Cause of Tinnitus
Noise Induced
Hi everyone. I am about 9 maybe 10 months into my journey with tinnitus.

Safe to say I am not in panic phase anymore. Still find myself a little bit angry about it, but I'm sure with time I will get over it.

My question is: I am 24, and I need to make money. I am currently unemployed. The best chance I have at making good money, is in a casino, as I have prior experience. Would it be safe to work in a casino? I really need to start earning money.

Dillon from South Africa.

I would do a walkthrough and measure the decibel levels there before making a decision, with particular focus on the location in the casino you would be working.

I'm guessing it's going to be pretty damn loud and not worth the risk

For me it would be too loud, but you have to check that by yourself.

Quite a risk of permanent increase in tinnitus (assuming yours is sound induced), and only for money...

I understand you need to earn a living, but I'd really search it elsewhere. Casino's tend to be very loud.

Hi, I have had it for 2-3 years and avoid loud places at all costs. Everyone is different as far as sounds bothering them go. Even so I would go there in person so you can judge how loud the casino would be. I know they are generally loud places, so working an 8 hour shift on a regular basis in that environment sounds very risky to me. I wouldn't, but you have to answer that for yourself. Good luck.

I have no idea how loud a casino is supposed to be. But my guess from movies is that it's too loud. You can of course measure the decibels yourself, as others said. I would also like to add that what if they have events? Like sort of parties or even more music and people. Seems too risky.

Tinnitus itself doesn't seem to bother me... it's just, I fear hearing loss, and going deaf. But there are hearing aids to help me if that is the case? The tinnitus I know will never go and I am at the stage where I can say I am 50% habituated.

Casinos are loud. But then again so is a pencil dropping in a quiet room. I'm just glad I can hear them at all.

Hearing aids are useless in many cases. One of my relatives spent 6.000 euros on hearing aids and she does not use them anymore after a few months. Nothing can substitute normal hearing, natural hearing. Apparently hearing aids are not like wearing glasses. Hearing works in a different way.
