Hi guys,

I'm 19, I live in the UK. I went to a club last Friday to celebrate my friend's birthday. I left the club after 2 hours and my ears are ringing since then. Ringing is loud (???) as I can hear it at top of most "every day" sounds (if I listen to it). The ringing isn't so bad for me, but the fear that it might not go away is very troubling. I just wake up, realise T is still there and I immediately can feel adrenaline in my veins, I don't know how to deal with that kind of stress yet.

It has been 4 days, and I haven't seen any improvement yet. Do you think I have any chances of T becoming less intrusive over time, or maybe... going away?

I had a similar situation a few years ago, but my T wasn't too loud and only noticeable at night in perfect silence. It went away after a few days.

I've seen a GP, but all he said was "there should be no permanent damage", "it should go away within few weeks". I hope he is right.

I asked about Betaserc but he said that in the UK they don't prescribe any kind of drug for T, as there is no proof they work.

Any idea if he's right?

Hey @maltese and Welcome to TT...

I am sorry you are experiencing this condition...

I don't know much about Betaserc, but some people which have had T from acoustic traumas had some improvements by doing a course of prednisone Steroid within the first week of onset, so maybe you could go back to your doc and ask him about steroids... But apparently it has to be done within the first week or so to be effective... I only found out months after my onset and so I didn't even try..

Hopefully with a bit of luck it will go away soon as it did the first time around, but I would highly recommend you to protect your ears from now on by not using too much and too loud headphones, and maybe carrying earplugs around when going into loud places and discos and use them if it feels too uncomfortable...

All the best mate ! Take care of yourself!

Ciao !

I will protect my ears. I learned my lesson.

I hope it will reduce in volume, now I can hear it pretty much all the time :(

Do you know if sound-induced T usually goes down in volume with time? Or not really?

I'll try to convince my doc to prescribe me them. Last time he said "there is no proof any medication would help".

@marstromusica - please do ask for steroids, it's worth a go.
You may be hearing your T all the time because you are focusing on it at the moment.
I know that's what happens for me.
I've had my T for just over 3 months and I'm only now noticing it less because I am distracted with other things.
I will then stop and think 'I haven't noticed my tinnitus for awhile. Of course it is still there when I listen for it.

Yes it can very well go away.
And the odds are better if you feel relaxed about it and not focus on it.

Try to see and ENT asap too, a treatment taken quickly could help.

It is difficult to say if it will go down or not in volume... It could also very well disappear in the next few days.. T is a very subjective condition, even if the cause is the same, and what is for some may not be for others... It also goes in terms of treatments and supplements... Some may get relief from something but others may not... There is a lot of "trial and error" in facing this condition I think...

Definitely stress and anxiety play a big role in it, so do work on your "reaction" to it and the way you experience it... It takes time but eventually, as your reaction to it will lessen, then the way you experience it it will lessen as well... Or at least this is what happens to most sufferers... I do not include severe T in such group as I don't have it as such and I cannot speculate on how I would react to it...

Best of luck to you !!!! Ciao !

Hi Maestro,

Since you are so young, your recuperative powers may just knock it out. When I was 19, I could stay up all night and even not feel tired. :)
