Has anyone with worsening tinnitus attempted to push ahead through "normal sounds" no matter what?

What was the long-term result?

I was referring to the often-repeated definition of less than 80-85 db. (I'm not intending to start a controversy about that definition.)

I'm wondering if there are people who took that recommendation and ran with the ball, in spite of worsening, and what the outcome was.

For example, with hyperacusis, the end result to that strategy can go either way.

I pushed ahead for 40 years and was only semi cautious. Concerts being way too loud though, I had to avoid those. I always had some hope I guess that I would find a remedy and I did, here. Thank you very much.

You use prudence in protecting the ears for loud sounds. See the following sites for sounds and their dBs and the maximum time of exposure before damage is done. Generally, I don't tip-toe around T much these days because doing so is to give it power over my life. I don't even need ear plugs on flights nor cinemas, but that is after my H got better. I do use ipod earbuds or fingers in case the sounds are too loud. Again use prudence and you are the best one to tell if you can handle some noises without hurting.
