7mo update: Same as last month, 2/10-5/10 high pitched hissing. I no longer think about it except in the car with the windows up and when trying to sleep. I'm no longer suicidal over it and haven't been for the last 2 months, but I still hope it continues to fade.
Hello is your morse code gone? I developed after medication called prednisolone (i am devastated at the age of 29 i also have sound distortions)
Do you also have nox, dysacusis and h ? alongside with T, i have loudness h (mild thank god), dysacusis and moderate t left ear severe t right ear. Most bothersome issue is always with my right ear
I finally got clonazepam prescribed instead of clorazepate! I really hope it will help spikes
adpolandam
Do sudden sounds hurt you?
Nes
@adpolandam no. White/fan/Ac noises give me tingling nerve pain in my face though
Always these meetings.... Everyone is polite and behaves until some random person 1 meter away from me starts to clapping hes hands like a maniac while someone talks for 5-8 seconds. I couldnt plug my ears since i was trying to listen to the other person 3 meters away that was talking. It was a small room 2x4 meters so it echoed very loudly. I hope this wont cause a spike, i was doing so good this week.
My noiseless pc setup using a steam deck is up and ready ! This console has been the best thing i bought in 2024
Varda
Some of the PC cases produced by Fractal Design have sound dampening material lining the inside.
Nes
@Lurius I will probably make a post with the specifics (comments are way too short) , but I use sunshine and moonlight to stream my pc to my deck, which is connected to a monitor. It works surprisingly well with 0 latency
Nes
@Lurius another solution I've stumbled upon and which is my end goal is to use thunderbolt with a kvm extender and optical display port cables to use directly the pc from another room. More expensive and requires cables to run across all appartement, but better quality
I am sick and tired of these flu induced ear and hearing issues. My left ear has been clogged for two weeks now making me feel like I cant hear with that ear. I feel pressure in my ears. I mostly hear tinnitus.
Hello i also developed dycasusis after steroid injections from my arm are you any better? and tininitus
@Cmspgran New routines would be getting some part time work in again. I'm self employed and had been working this yr upto September. Then back in the gym. I have asked GP about 10mg Nortriptyline and waiting to hear back. Other than that crack on with house jobs I was doing. I had to suspend these due to noise levels. Even sanding was too loud.
Six months since my tinnitus worsening, plus ten years since joining Tinnitus Talk. Grateful that my tinnitus has become less intrusive since worsening, and grateful for the wonderful people and great community here!
BrOKeN_1
Curious how you gauge it as less intrusive even though it has worsened? When my T worsened and became unmaskable it became incredibly intrusive yet I became subjectively less emotionally reactive.
marqualler
Maybe how you put it, "incredibly intrusive yet subjectively less emotionally reactive" is a good way to put it, because I somehow turned a corner the last couple months and now even if I hear it in certain places, it doesn't bug me as much. I'm hopeful "worsening" is actually more like a "spike" that is getting slowly back to "baseline" for me.
BrOKeN_1
I hope that's the case. Even lower then base line would be great. Lol.
After moving to this new apartment I understood that you can't escape dogs at 6 am. Not possible.
Seems cliche af. But Mondays are always hell on my tinnitus. It's definitely my work schedule adjusting back to graveyard shift after the weekend I assume. But dammit it's like slowely acclimating all week just to go back to square one. *sigh*
Have been coughing non stop.. wonder where will my H be by the time cough goes away. Any suggestions??
ZFire
You will be fine. Try not to overthink it. Coughing is a natural response when one is feeling ill. Take cough suppressants if you want. Try natural remedies like honey, ginger, peppermint, steaming, etc. I hear marshmallow root is good for coughs also.
Heal82
Thanks @ZFire..yes it's much better now and I don't think it has adversely affected my H or T even though I have been coughing and blowing my nose so much this past week. I wear Mac ear plugs when blowing my nose and also coughing.. In case I am about to cough and I don't have my ear plugs on then I just close my ears with my hands..🙂
Just checking in on you. Are you back in the gym? I'm feeling a little more miserable with it getting dark at 5pm. My pain and loudness hyperacusis has been better the last week. I now need to mentally get engaged in life a bit more again.
H got worse. Possibly due to lamotrigine. Pain all the time. Have to wear protection in quiet room. Trying to ride it out, been about a month. Struggling. Lost so many things since the first time I got nox. Again. Hard to keep the hope alive. Pray for me.
hey how is your distortions
Cmspgran
Hi @delta784 my distortions n haven't completely gone but they're nowhere near as bad as the first 6 months. Still get morse code beeps over certain sounds.
Hi Erika what caused your distortions may i ask
N
@erik I'm thinking the ear plugs are a no for me. Over ear ONLY.
ErikaS
I'm telling you @Nick47 , my most significant spikes/worsenings followed using them. I'm one of the last people on this forum to tell someone what to do, but if someone like me who has reactive T and not loudness or pain H, and I am too sensitive for in ear protection, I can't help but think about those with H wearing them constantly and if it's causing further nerve sensitivity/aggravation.
N
@ErikaS it makes you wonder. Clinical staff don't know. Research says loudness hyperacusis is made worse though. Have you recovered from cold? Medicine change better?
Pinhead sorry to hear your story i have dysacusis as well with loudness hyperacusis(mild thankfully) and severe tinnitus in right ear i am so scared of dysacusis to be honest. and i feel like its getting worse i was only getting them on top of shower and ac fans now over Tv aswell what caused your tinnitus and dysacusis may i ask? Mine is caused by steroid injections from my arm.
Hey billie my tinnitus becomes severe on 24.10.2024 for no reason after fleeting tinnitus attacks twice last episode was in 26.10.2024 i am not sure if this was some sort of sshl or fleeting tinnitus or sbutt but can this get better? before that i had mild dysacusis and moderate tinnitus atleast it was liveable now it sucks so bad because my right ear constant 15.000 khz no hearing loss up to 16.000 khz

Thanks for contacting me. I think you should see an ENT to rule out any problems with the ears first. Without a medical issue, unstable ears tend to settle down after a while and your conditions may improve. That is only a general assessment but I am not a doctor, so it is best to seek medical opinion first.
how your dysacusis improved can you give me update thx i am only 29 y.o
delta784
yes @BB23 is it possible to go back in time ? if yes i can go back to 22 sept and fix everything.
BB23
@delta784 take me with you if you find a way.
delta784
Thank you for your kind answers. Hopefully my dysacusis improves like yours over the year. That bothers me a lot taking my coping ability from tinnitus. Because its morse code beeps over TV even.
Hello how is your distortions
TheCapybara
It has calmed down for sure over the last two years, I used to hear a lot more beeps and other weird sounds from daily noises but that's all mostly gotten better.
delta784
Thank you so much i have severe t on my right ear also also moderate t left ear. Only 29 years old have a lovely family and girlfriend my question is can i live a happy life? like i used to before.
TheCapybara
I think you can, absolutely. It'll just take a lot of time and healing to adjust. If you have the support of your family and girlfriend to help you through it, you'll be alright.
