  • Hey there. My last post was over a year ago. I guess I took to heart the advice of those T sufferers who often complain the TT site is a downer and to stay away. So I did. But, things are not better yet, but I have to have hope, so I hope to open a more consistent dialog with others who understand. You seem to still be quite active on the site. That's good, I think, right?
    T
But do not be foolish. I'm not spreading false positivity. I want you to be a realist and do what makes you feel comfortable. Be knowledgeable. If you are not ready for something don't force yourself to get better. Know your strenghs and know your weaknesses. For example, I know when I need to wear earplugs and we I shouldn't. But don't be in constant fear to feel the need to be in silence all the time.
    T
    Thats a bit overkill.
    T
I know my response has been all over the place, but I hope you find it helpful.
    Hello Taylor,
I saw your old posts when you first got H.
So its safe to say you don't have any H now?
    Looking for some hope.
    Thanks
    LAnative
    Thanks for the update Taylor.
I guess most of us in the beginning worry about permanently reducing our quality of life. Thanks for reassuring me that eventually life gets back to normal.
For me its the ear fullness feeling that bothers me more than the mild H. Just hoping that goes away or hopefully thats something I can habituate to as well.
    T
@LAnative I know you're probably scared. My ear fullness if I can remember didn't go away for a while. And I had this sensation that something was physically inside my ear. (Nothing was)
    T
It will go away but it may take even as long as 1 months or more.
    Hello there, how are you?
I wanned to ask you something but dunno how to send private messages, I´m quite new here.
It´s about one of the threads I´ve shared (mushrooms one), maybe we can talk there or shall I just write here the whole story?
I see people everywhere I go turning the volume on their headphones on high and playing loud music in their car. I wish they knew...
    MuffinMan
@cspc they probably have way too mild
    T
Yeah I've talked to some people and they say they have ringing but it's so mild it doesn't bother em. But they really don't know what actual moderate/severe Tinnitus is like or even Hyperacusis.
    T
Tbh Google says hyperacusis is rare. I doubt that. I just think some people have it mild and don't mind it. I've also met other people who have hyperacusis (hearing sensitivities). I just think it's much more common. However most people's aren't not as severe as others.
    Hello!
So, did you have some tinnitus and hyperacusis? How much or As far as I understand, basically you were disturbed with a hyperacusis, and tinnitus was very weak?
Now your hyperacia recedes with time, and you can enjoy life?
    Michael Leigh
Talylorslay arrived at this forum having a lot of trouble with tinnitus and hyperacusis which were quite severe. I and other members helped her. However, this was backed up with her determination, hard work and positive attitude and resulted in her making remarkable progress. She is an inspiration to many.
    Michael
    T
Exactly. What both of you have said is correct.
    T
@IvanRus yes my Tinnitus is very mild compared to what my H use to be. So it hasn't bothered me except in the early days where it fluctuated some. Other than that my T is the least of my worries when comparing H and T.
So I got an H spike from running. Not sure why, but I'm going to keep at it. I'll try to train my ears to tolerate it.
    Michael Leigh
HI @Taylorslay I am pleased that you are not going to give up. I like your attitude because you are a person that listens. Carry on this way and you will go far in life. I use an elliptical machine at home and have no problems with my tinnitus. l believe it's because my feet don't make contact with the floor, so there is no impact underfoot. Best of luck and take care
    Michael

@Michael Leigh I never understood why people give up. I do understand bouts of depression and anxiety but completely giving up on life and ones goals is as if you're no longer a living human being. Simply just a body in space at that point. So of course, never give up, and if something does work out, try something new!
    Michael Leigh
HI @Taylorslay You are so right but life can be complicated and some people have more than their fair share on the plate. We all have a limit to how much we can take but it's good to have a positive outlook on life the way that you do. So go for it and keep shinning.
In all of my progress regarding my H, I still sometimes freak out over nothing. A little freak outs good. We all need a good cry sometimes.
    IvanRus
Do I understand correctly that hyperacusis bothers you more than tinnitus itself?
Do you have spikes / exacerbations of tinnitus from high-profile events or stress?
    T
@IvanRus My tinnitus can become loud but honestly, I have become use to it. It doesn't cause me stress like my Hyperacusis. My H use to be quite bad. I use to not be able to moderately raise my voice without having pain or loudness distortion.

My tinnitus reacts with my Hyperacusis, but my Hyperacusis reacts worse than my Tinnitus.

Wow what a great mind you have! Things happens.. Everything is unpredictable and it's not our fault.
Went to the movies Friday. I wore earplugs and I had an H spike. But the spike was from the earplugs. 3 days later I'm back to normal. :)
I went to lunch with my family in downtown Orlando today. It was super loud, cars, bikes, planes etc luckily no spike. Its been a good day.
    T
That is very surprising since my H is aggravated very easily.
    Michael Leigh
Hi Taylorslay. I am pleased that you had a nice time with your family. Please remember, it is often the negative counselling that one listens to from other people that can often instil negative thinking into others and make them believe, that every loud sound will cause their tinnitus to spike. This definitely not the case.
    Michael
Does anyone's ear sometimes ache? I have H but its nothing like H related pain. Its a literal ache. Its very mild though.
    Tom Cnyc
I used to get this a lot. I think its related to muscle tension caused by T related stress. Both neck muscles from the fight or flight "protect your neck" response as well as a protective tensor tympani that does not relax.
    Tinker Bell
That's a very plausible explanation, @Tom Cnyc. Thanks for sharing it!
    AZeurotuner
My ears always hurt... Although I started lasering a week ago and the aches are GONE, has to be the lllt, my ears feel good for once.
I truly think Tinnitus and or Hyperacusis makes us stronger human beings.
    dpdx
They dont make me stronger, they make me weaker. They cause me more anxiety/stress. My view on life has been permanently changed. Never will i be that happy person i once was.
    T
@dpdx I find that completely false. Much like every challenge we face we grow. Think of all the times in your life where you wanted something bad but it took lots of hard work. You suffered a lot and wanted to give up. But didn't.
    T
Looking at life in such a pessimistic way just because of Tinnitus and Hyperacusis is not worth the energy long term. For it does hurt our quality of life but once we as people learn to move past it. The challenges we face become easier to overcome. Because no struggle could compare to T and H.
Man, I don't know what I'd do with out you guys. You really do make H and T easier to live with. Thank you all for being so supportive.
I am not cured. But I have made tremendous progress that I'm happy with. I am able to move on with my life. Which I find most important. :)
BTW, forgot to mention hearing is better than ever, oddly. Have to listen around the T, which hovers at 6350 Hz.
You give good advice, manifested somehow beyond your years. I developed whopping T in both years after getting bouts of bilateral intermittent T for a year+. I have a bad back, with herniated L5 since 10/15, and was wondering if simultaneous use of Tramadol and Norco can cause this. It changes drastically when I move my head around. Thanks for anything you know.
    T
It's important to also understand that just because you may have good hearing does not mean it can't be noise induced or degeneration of the inner ear in some form. (But usually degeneration depends on age).
    T
I looked up my anti depressants all over the net because I was worried it would spike my T. I found nothing that gave me the notion it would.
    T
Do you know any known cause of your T or did it pop up out of no where?
Abuse is all I get from the ones that supposedly love me, in my darkest hours.

Do not know what to say without knowing your family. But your family's lack of concern for healthcare is worrying.
As my family says about my H and T "You're crazy Taylor." "We need to take you to a shrink.". You're the real reason I'm going crazy. :'(
Speaking to my family about T and H, and my loss of clarity in hearing despite no visual loss on my audiogram, is like speaking to a wall.
    T
It's not that the loss of frequency that I have. I have a loss of volume in decibels as well.
    shasta0863
What types of volume types do you believe you see a loss in? If you're audiogram was within normal levels, then everyday noises should be the same. Do only certain sounds sound lower volume than others? Sometimes when I hear higher freq. stuff my ear muscles deep inside tense up so I can a sort of slight muffle and fullness feeling, sometimes even pain if it's loud enough.
    T
I can't exactly tell honestly. Feels like it's all over the place. It lacks depth and volume all over. I get pain from high frequencies but I have hyperacusis. When my H isn't spiked everything doesn't seem excessively loud. But when it is, everything is louder than it should be. But all frequencies lack overall clarity. Why I say lack volume because one of my ears is much lower than the other.
