  • 4th of July has always been my favorite, I'm in love with fireworks. But I hate it now! I can't get away from the noise or pain!
    Kriszti
I'm just so sorry. I have never had much connection to fireworks, but now I'm so scared of them. New Year's Eve was a horror. Raging tinnitus, anxiety, double protection. I'm just trying to mentally prepare myself for our national holiday when there will be even bigger fireworks.
Stupid. Freaking. Migraines. I'm glad that I had that two day break from the constant battery, but I think I'd give my leg to have it again
I thought once I got used to it my Alice in Wonderland Syndrome would be cool, but it just scares me every time. Minor episode every day now
I'm completely okay with the pain coming back right now. For the past 2 days I've felt like a real person again, I'm living. Hallelujah
My migraines technically haven't stopped the whole time I've been pain free, but the H is coming back as the M intensifies.
    @Tavia R

I read some of your posts and I am so happy for you!!! It is wonderful that you have experienced improvement. We all must appreciate the good when it happens even if things are not perfect.
I too am wondering what medication you are taking?
    Tavia R
Thanks LindaS! If you guys already know, I don't have hearing loss H, I have migraine H. None of the many drugs I've tried have touched it and suddenly out of the blue these new ones started working! Feels good to finally have a break, even though right now a new migraine is starting up again.
    Tavia R
Look down at my other comment to see the meds.
MY MEDICATION IS WORKING! MY PAIN IS REDUCED TO THE LEVEL IT WAS 6 MOTHS AGO! I'M LISTENING TO MUSIC!!!!! PRAISE GOD HALLELUJAH!
    Tavia R
So the med I'm taking is gabapentin (a nerve pain medication and migraine blocker). I've been told this is ototoxic as of yesterday so keep that in mind. But at the same time I was put on propranolol, another migraine blocker, so I don't know which one is stopping the ear pain. I am still having migraines at the same time the ear pain is gone so IDK what's going on I just know I didn't hurt

Is the music loud? Are you sure you want to risk it all?
    Tavia R
Doc said noise exposure won't make H worse in the long run, but too much can trigger a migraine. So yeah I'm totally risking triggering another migraine and going back to the pain, but it's more than worth it.
Y'all I think I'm seeing improvement! But is it too pessimistic to say it's not enough to really make a difference? I'll take it any day tho
    Bill Bauer
Ears take forever to heal, so improvement is a great sign and in a year or two you will probably have a lot more improvement.
    Steph1710
Nope it's not pessimistic. I was experiencing the slightest improvements each couple of weeks, and now all those slight improvements have added up to a significant improvement.

    Awesome! Hope it continues!

I should be much more depressed than I am. What a miracle that I am so happy even though I'm struggling so much. Praise God

Tavia, you are truly an inspiration! I too am going through a lot of physical pain with migraines and muscle tension in neck/shoulder/back, along with t. It is challenging, but we are stronger through our faith. God bless you! :)
    Tavia R
God be with you hon! It's comforting to know He already went through all this, knew us personally, and still saw fit to give us our trials. He definitely knows something we don't.
I'm sorry you're not doing well though, message me anytime, I mean it
    LilSass
Thx Tavia! I'll message you soon. I can't spend too much tine on my phone when it hurts, which it does right now. Keep praying for each other!
Hi @Kain, I got the nitrous oxide for my H pain when I went to the dentist. DON'T! Tubes of rushing air sit on your ears, I had muffs too
I've made peace with H. Of course I'm still fighting tooth and nail to heal from the migraines causing it, but I'm starting to learn to live
Y'all I cannot be home alone! I'm seeing/hearing stuff every two seconds because of T and VS and can't just turn on music because of H. Ahh!
Home alone and heard a door open! You know how hard it is to listen for an intruder when your tinnitus is so loud!? Didn't find anyone tho
Hi @Tavia R ! How are you today? I too get migraines & developed t six months ago. Life can sure be a bitch huh? How are things in Utah? :)
    LilSass
    Tavia R
Wow, I've been reading the research articles about it, seems pretty legit. Thanks LilSass! Hope you're well
    LilSass
Glad you found it useful! I've got to look a little bit more into it, but it's actually a reasonable price, so I def think it's worth a shot. Did you find any negative effects? Take care lovely! ;)
I find it amusing that when the entire earth is too loud what always comes to mind is Billy Corgan's "the world is a vampire sent to drain"
    Steph1710
Such a classic! Always reminds me of my mum lol
There comes a point you realize you're going to have to get through it because there's no other choice. How have I gotten this far?
I don't know how I'm going to make it through today. It's going to be a lesson on grace, because I cannot live like this. God help me
    Emgee
I hope things start to improve for you. Feel free to message anytime.
I'm really sick of crying, of being depressed, of being in pain. I wish so desperately life was more beauty and less misery.
    Christiaan
I'm really sorry to hear that Tavia. Are there any things that keep your mind off your hyperacusis and T?
Oh & the nasal spray came today. Think I'm allergic to it because it burned like hell &when it dripped down my throat it caused major bumps
Dinner in my room alone, 31 dB earmuffs (family in other rooms), completely mute. No migraine. This is not good. The H is separate.
    Bill Bauer
Are you doing this because in the past you got a spike when they were in the nearby rooms and you weren't wearing your muffs? This lasted at most an hour, right? You are spending most of your time at home Not wearing muffs, right?
    Tavia R
Most of the time I'm not this disabled, but I got bad noise exposure
I wear the muffs most of the time when I'm out of my room. Usually I'm good without then in there, except when it's this bad
    Tavia R
Right now I'm just so overly sensitive that I can't handle really any noise
I just hope after I get the migraines under control the H stops. Suck if they're not related, but I was born with ear problems (4/4)
it's like the shot you get in the ER. But sounds like botoxs is coming. Doc sounds confident that I can handle it though. (3/4)
get those under control first. We're adjusting meds, did a nerve block. Giving it a few weeks, then some new meds. Have a nasal spray (2/4)
So here's how the neuro went: we're still not 100% sure the migraines are causing the H, but I'm having at least 15 M a month so we (1/4)
I've been getting worse we so came to the conclusion to screw the diet. Got my appetite back...ish ok I ate most of it. So good! (2/2)
You know, that frosty and fries hits different when you've been following a strict migraine diet since febuary. No migraine either... (1/2)
Sometimes I have to realize how bad I'm getting and admit to God how much I need Him. H is like a monster inside me that's eating me alive
    Bill Bauer
H goes away a lot more often (and faster!) than T. Chances are that in a year or two you will be over H.
    Tavia R
    Wait what!?
This is literally the first time I've heard this
Ok, well apparently I need to crawl out of my hole of depression that prevents me from doing any research at all (I fell into it quite a while ago - I couldn't handle the emotional toll of not being able to find solutions to fix my ears) and look into recovery times.
    Thanks :x
