My Tinnitus Is OK Now After Dexamethasone

I had a microwick installed after reading this and replicated Renka's protocol with daily intratympanic Dexamethasone (10mg/mL solution) for 30 days. I was very optimistic but unfortunately no change in my tinnitus. The removal of the wick and tube actually worsened my hearing and tinnitus but...

UCI — Acoustic and Electrical Stimulation for the Treatment of Tinnitus

Yeah if local Lidocaine has an effect, it is definitely going to be temporary. I had post-auricular Lidocaine injections done (injected directly behind the ear) but experienced no change in the tinnitus.

UCI — Acoustic and Electrical Stimulation for the Treatment of Tinnitus

Intravenous Lidocaine (dripped in through an IV, rather than locally injected) silences tinnitus for some people... not sure exactly how/why, though from what I've read it does cross the blood brain barrier so it is probably floating around in your brain as well as your ear. You're awake during...

Tinnitus Control by Dopamine Agonist Pramipexole in Presbycusis Patients

I just stumbled on this thread regarding Pramipexole, trying to convince my doctor to prescribe it for a trial - but I wanted to corroborate your experience regarding stellate ganglion blocks. I also had it done this year at a pain clinic for tinnitus. I showed the doctor the same papers you...

Flupirtine — Another Potassium Channel Opener

Godspeed. Agree the NAC could help mitigate damage if you were to try it again, especially for a longer period. I take 1.2g per day and have noticed that tinnitus spikes from unexpected loud noise exposures last far less longer now than they used to (1-2 days, rather than a week), presumably...

Also there is a paper that shows dexamethasone sodium phosphate solution is far less permeable through the round window than pure dexamethasone suspension... hence worried I have the wrong type.

@MaxRabbit I appreciate it. No change yet. Convinced my ENT to put it in for me to try to replicate Renka's experience - procedure is same as putting in a normal tympanostomy tube. Currently using 10mg/mL dexamethasone sodium phosphate solution but worried the concentration is not high enough.

Hi Renka - I am replicating the same microwick protocol you did a few years ago based on your posts. Just had the microwick put in a couple days ago. What concentration of dexamethasone solution did you use? Was it either 24mg/mL or 10mg/mL dexamethasone sodium phosphate solution? Or was it a...

My Trip to Bangkok: Stem Cell Treatment [Comments]

Actually got it done through a friend of a friend in Mexico who is not a stem cell doctor - but they sourced the stem cells from www.cryovidastemcells.com and had them shipped in overnight. This lab seems to supply MSCs to many doctors and clinics all around Mexico (e.g., see this article...

My Trip to Bangkok: Stem Cell Treatment [Comments]

FYI, I have gone through the same process with StemCells21 and been presented with the same options. Prices are marginally negotiable - option 1 can be negotiated down to at least $32.3k (15% off). Good luck, keep us posted. Just got back from an UC-MSC infusion in Mexico myself (IV only) for...

    Mechanisms of Antidepressant-Induced Tinnitus

Spot on. My understanding is that SSRIs are indeed not ototoxic but can trigger chronic tinnitus through the mechanism described in this post. There is a wealth of research now evidencing this mechanism. Excess serotonin in the dorsal cochlear nucleus causes the fusiform cells that are...

Tinnitus Onset After Nerve Issues (Pain, Burning, Numbness, Pins and Needles)

@ChiggyT, have you seen this post re: Nortriptyline? Don’t want to beat a dead horse but I strongly suspect Nortriptyline is behind your tinnitus, especially given that it is somatic. Excess serotonin in the DCN causes somatic and auditory nerve input signals to get mixed up, causing tinnitus.

Repeated Modified Nerve Blocks and Auditory and Non-Auditory Nerve Stimulation

It was with a normal acupuncturist (American lady, trained in Chinese acupuncture) - but we did the exact same points around the ear in an attempt to replicate the Chinese case study.

Repeated Modified Nerve Blocks and Auditory and Non-Auditory Nerve Stimulation

I had a unilateral SGB done (on my worse side) on the basis of that paper from China, with 5 days of acupuncture after it. The SGB was ultrasound guided with a neck X-ray also taken prior to the procedure. Took ~10 minutes of them inserting a needle into my neck to find the right place. Felt...
