    Introduction

HI Steve, welcome aboard. Trust me, you Tinnitus will settle down. Your limbic system has your T as priority number 1 so the habituation hasn't taken hold yet. For example, if you woke up tomorrow and found out someone had stolen your car your tinnitus would NOT be the number one priority in...

The PoNS™ (Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator) Device and Neuroplasticity — Can It Help Tinnitus?

Just watched The Nature of Things, a show on CBC in Canada, with an episode on this research. Unbelievably exciting stuff, how this device modulates the misfiring in the brain and brings incredible results to some brain injured people. How I would love to try the electric tongue depressor for...

Finally Found the Cure (Don't Waste Your Life Wishing for the Tinnitus to Go Away)

Hello Everyone and especially Kazue. Listen everyone. My T is as brutal as anyone's. But believe me when I say this. Science will produce treatments that will dramatically improve the symptoms of Tinnitus. My Father had Parkinson's Disease ten years ago and there was no meds, nothing, zilch. My...

    Enjoying the Silence

It's hard to seek support when there's no one to go to. My wife thinks my T is something I should be able to handle because "you're not in pain". She has severe allergies and has had some surgery for arthritis so her issues are more objective. My second malady is clinical depression which can...

    Hearing Aids

Karl, your explanation is interesting. If that is the mechanism for generating t why does it occur in silence ? During silence there is no complex sound which is dismantled into individual tones, etc, etc. help me out with why t occurs during silence using your explanation.

    Hearing Aids

I had my first fitting today for hearing aids. I have some hf hearing loss in both ears and wanting to try them out. My initial 20 minute test drive was impressive. Everything was slightly crisper with no harseness. I heard a fellow softly whistling about 20 feet which I don't think I would have...

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Discussion & Experiences & Questions

Your ears we're well protected during that MRI so I find it unlikely that is the cause. If you had a coincidental spike you may have assumed that the MRI was the cause which would crank up the stress. I am confident things will settle down. Make sure you get LOTS of sleep.

Poll: Did You Get a Flu Shot This Year?

Nothing to fear with a flu shot. Far more evidence to support getting the shot versus not. The shot is a dead virus, not a weird chemical. I can't believe it would any relationship to T.

    Quieter in the Morning?

$1.47 Million Granted to Research Tinnitus and Drug Research for Treatment

I remember when my t started. I could listen to a song on my iPod and the T would 'dissolve' for about 20 seconds after the song ended then slowly it would reappear. Is this the phenomenon the good doctor will be studying?

What Cured Me and May Be Your Cause

Lisa's story sounds like a photocopy of mine. I had two live altering incidents followed by tinnitus which triggered a very steep drop into major clinical depression. I was very quickly racheted up to 300 mg of Effexor and 25 mg og seroquel at bedtime. There is ample evidence linking t and...
