My tinnitus is usually fine 3 or so hours aver awakening then it starts to act up in various degrees as the day progresses. Does anyone else have this pattern?

That sounds pretty similar to me lately. Sometimes mine will be almost absent at the start of the day, so it sucks when it starts to fluctuate as the day goes by.

Yes, this is a common pattern also for me and others.

Usually mine follows 1 of 3 patterns every day:
1) Starts low (1 out of 10) and slowly climbs till bedtime where it is usually (6/7 out of 10)
2) Starts low (.5/1 out of 10) and remains low all day long
3) Starts higher (5/6 out of 10) and stays consistant throughout the day.

I have been trying to find the reasons/triggers for this but so far been unsuccessful. I would like to keep it a #2 all the time. The fact that it can be that low and stay that way tells me that there is some mechanism in place in my brain that has the capability of doing this if I could figure out what that is.

Yes, Don that is the $64,000 question for which I am still on my quest to solve. I do notice that the better sleeping night I have which means no waking up, no anxiety during sleep, no racing thoughts etc....just good complete sleep will almost always give me a good low T day no matter what I eat or do.

Mine is very similar, too. It starts out fairly low in the morning, particularly if I've slept well. Then, it proceeds upward during the day. Worst time of the day for me is generally late afternoon/early evening. Sometimes, it seems a little better late in the evening. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, what I eat, etc.

Now, if we could just figure out how to keep it at a lower level all day, that would be wonderful! I agree that there must be some sort of brain mechanism that causes this.

The reason it is more quiet in the morning is that you have not been exposed to noise during the night while sleeping.

same here, i am also curious why
In your case it may have to do with the fact that you were in quiet all night, like many others. @Michael Leigh mentioned that the best way to get rid of this is to desensitize our brain to sound, and it may make your tinnitus always sound like this. Or as @Tamalak said in his story, he feels like his tinnitus was being agrivated by sound, and avoiding sound helped him get over it. Choose what you think would be most beneficial to your tinnitus by evaluating your lifestyle.

I do have the sound oasis machine playing at night. The T is generally lower in the morning then climbs up during the day.
I woke up this morning and I was like ugh damn Tinnitus, this will be a hard life lol

Is your tinnitus reactive? If not try turning the sound machine off.

No it is not reactive Tinnitus. I am still shocked and puzzled that the medical community is not researching more into this. I do not wish T and H on my worst enemy, this is going to be a rough life man.

If that's the case I really do think you have a lot to gain by turning off the sound machine. It may help reduce your tinnitus. Mine is reactive to everytime I chew something or stand up.

The sound machine treats H

Maybe my bedroom is too noisy. It can only be the sound machine. I try turning it off, so there is complete silence and my T is still bad.. I must be in the minority, oh well, my brain is unique.

I have H so I have to have some kind of sound running at night or I'll wake up and my H will spike. I wake up and my T tends to be lower than later in the day or when I start moving around.

You and me both brother, I don't even turn on my sound machine anymore.

As opposed to common belief, TOTAL silence is best for me. Any background noise will make my tinnitus unrelentingly dreadful. As someone else said on this thread, after an afternoon nap, even if it's only 5 minutes, sends it off the scale, literally! Always!! Some days I have acceptable days, some days total mayhem in my brain. This thing is so unpredictable I never know what sort of day I'll have.

Mine does the same. Or well. After it spiked it does. Before it used to get better during the day and would only bother me during night if it bothered me at all.
I have no idea why it is suddenly the opposite, but I've been thinking that stress may be a contributing factor, as I've noticed that if I don't really do anything during the day because I am sick or have an off day my tinnitus level will stay the same although I listen to music or watch a movie. But it's just a guess.
