As I understand, you are only feeling pain, but not physically damaging your ears. The pain was associated with physical damage before they discovered that an ear can actually hurt without some underlying infection etc.

I don't think you could damage anything that way. It could be an issue with the vein pressure. But maybe your vein is just going near your ear and when your pressure is up you can hear it. I'm no doctor, just imo...
