Hi William, if I recall correctly it was my ENT in the hospital Sint Lucas Gent, don't remember his name but I think it might be standard procedure over there.

After 18 Months I Had My First Real "Break" — (Tinnitus & Hyperacusis)

The volume is not measurable by any objective standards, I believe it went down. I don't know for sure though. My mindset was completely different. The part that is not gone doesn't bother me at all.

After 18 Months I Had My First Real "Break" — (Tinnitus & Hyperacusis)

Certainly, everyone their story is different! And for me conquering my fear somehow made my tinnitus more tolerable and perhaps even quieter... My constant focus and fear of making it worse made it impossible to deal with it.

After 18 Months I Had My First Real "Break" — (Tinnitus & Hyperacusis)

Hey everyone, This is what tinnitus and -my form- of hyperacusis was for me the last years. This is a personal experience, but it can tell you that time heals quite a lot. Mind you, my tinnitus was mild overall, but I believe that even sufferers from a heavier tinnitus can have a success...

I'll try to make the post asap but I can tell you this: dramatic improvement happened around 18 months, both in dealing with T and "accepting" as recovery and thus hearing it less. Somehow they are linked pretty closely for me.

Sorry for the late answer guys, I was thinking of indeed making a succes stories post, I wanted to do this for a while to support some of you, but I was afraid that being to "happy" about recovery somehow could "jinx" it.

A while since I've been here, thats because my T has almost completely gone and it does not disturb me any longer. 18m in it improved a lot.

Poll: Driving. Earplugs, Earmuffs or No Protection?

Depends on your car, in the super early stage I might advise to use earplugs for older cars and bad roads and higher speeds. (this is far from scientific) Though. I know I've been using them too much, so I've gotten really sensitive to sound, it shaped my own H. I was even using them in my BMW...

    Went to Commencement... Pretty Loud

A peak of 92 is even doable without earplugs, as long as it's not sustained for an hour or so. even with crappy earplugs there is nothing to worry about, even if it's sustained..

Washington Post: Noise Exposure Is Becoming ‘the New Secondhand Smoke’

I feel like this article isn't always so clear on the difference between hearing damage and the stress sound can cause. 70 dB average on 24 hours is considered safe, but will surely bring about lots of stress. 40 dB at night is not required for our ears, but is a guideline because many people...

    Earmuff Suggestions?

Thanks for your answer! I currently already have the x5(a?), so I guess there is nothing better?

    Earmuff Suggestions?

Guys, I need the highest rated earmuffs that money can buy, I currently have a few, where my Peltor X5A is the best. But now I need something even better, I've stumbled upon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NKSMPZW/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?&ie=UTF8&p&smid&sc=1 Which has an higher rating but...

Poll: Noise-Cancelling Headphones — Do They Pose a Risk for Tinnitus?

Been a while so I don't know anymore, guess I was googling about them. I used to have frequent spikes and google everything. (Possibly not the best thing.) The brand of my headphones were Philips btw, but I think it's the same for each type.

Lack of Hearing Protection Awareness/Knowledge — Son Went Clay Pigeon Shooting

That's not really true though, for me a car passing by might sound too loud, doesn't mean it is too loud.

Lack of Hearing Protection Awareness/Knowledge — Son Went Clay Pigeon Shooting

It is up the instructor, he should be aware of the potential dangers of what they are doing, and is responsible for the health and safety of their public in my opinion.
