Tinnitus from Gunshot: Progress, Treatment, and Hope for Recovery

There is definitely a chance for a full recovery (no more tinnitus). If it was only a few rounds fired and you are so young, you have good odds of recovering. Stay hopeful. Stay strong. And maybe no more guns for you. If you do continue to shoot, use earplugs and wear earmuffs on top of them...

After experiencing a few incidents at the gym where someone dropped the weight stack on a cable machine, creating a loud metal-on-metal sound, I started wearing foam earplugs during my workouts. Should I Return to My Job as a Machinist with Pre-Existing Tinnitus?

Sorry to hear that your tinnitus has worsened. Was the muffler explosion recent? I haven’t returned to work yet. I might try going back to the machine shop later this year on a part-time basis, just to test the waters. Are you still working in a CNC milling factory?

I am doing ok. I still get a bit freaked out when I put my earplugs in (gym, mowing the yard, plane rides, outdoor concerts...). The ringing is all I can hear almost, and it is depressing. Depressing to think this is my new normal now. Hard to "habituate" and/or forget your tinnitus when...

Bilateral Tinnitus After a Single Band Rehearsal without Hearing Protection

@DamagedJoe, what you shared is a good sign, in my humble opinion. If your “archenemy” tone comes and goes, it might be a sign of healing!
