  • Just did a hearing test, the results are the same. However my T is so loud after that incident of yesterday. Could be just a temporary spike

Hey, I'd recommend you to aboud social places until your spike subsides.
Yea well my T is spiking bad now because of that firecracker close exposure! Fucking kids!!! I was relaxing at park in peace with low T.
Wtf!! Today is the only day that my T is lower so I decided to go to park to relax and a kid blasted a loud firecracker only 1m away from me

Ugh that is so terrible, so sorry to hear that! I was recently walking with my bf and a loud car approached, as I plugged my ears it revved extra loud. People can be really mean:(
    M
Im a loud noise magnet aswell. I ran out of NAC and it is not available where i live so i took a high dose of magnesium. Hopefully i will be ok
    M
Martin, it's the same where I live. Every other vehicle of every description is well over 100 decibels. I hate them.. And with the 4th of July around the corner, here come the nightly firecrackers. How are your ears doing? David's t mix definitely helps me btw...
Theres always loud motorbikes that set off cars alarm in my city. And kids playing with firecrackers. Life sucks with T and H.
    M
I tried that in the first months of my T onset so i developped H and it was very bad. Now I bought musician earplugs only with 16db attenuation and they are good but i cant wear them all the time. when im inside home theres always kids playing with loud firecrackers they always through it and run and I get 97db and 100db on my sound meter. If im in the garden or in my balcony I get 105 and 110db.
    M
Those firecrackers are illegal and can reach 128db at one meter but it is everywhere here as it is 3rd world. It is the fav game of kids in summer here. Many of kids here get NIHL at young age but parents arent aware of it

Anyone had any success with lavender oil or cajeput oil? A lot of articles on the internet claim that it can improve Hearing and Tinnitus.
We all didnt know what Tinnitus and hearing damage is before we got it. And once we got it... Bam it is permanent. How cool is that?
Many in my family members got T but only after 50. Nobody had hearing problems tho. God why me at 28 with bad hearing :( I cant live
    GBB
Hey, also 28 with loud in both ears. Hang in there.
15 months and all my life is stress headache pain brain fog. I couldnt function anymore. Iam not myself anymore. I just want peace from this
Cant be positive with severe T at young age. Knowing that hearing can only get worse overtime and thus increase of T. It is a vicious cycle.
    O
There might be treatment in the next few years. T can increase but hopefully there will be something to mitigate it when it comes to that point
    M
Lets be frank. There wont be any cure in the near future.
    O
@Martinf a cure - no. Treatment - I think there may be soon. I can live a normal life with mild tinnitus
Wow my T went to the roof after having few drinks yesterday. Never thought that T could be this high. I guess im gonna have to quit alcohols
    Matchbox
Happened to me too on onset. Temporary.
Anybody got permanent improvement of T? 15 months in and still suffering severe T. Good days are becoming less and less. I fear the future..
    Jebbis
They do but they sure as hell aren't on this forum! 8 months in here. You'll have more good days!

Yes, I've had permanent improvement of my tinnitus volume. It took over a year before I saw any improvement and it was not linear. I have a bunch of other issues though and when one gets better another seems to crop up so it's a balancing act it seems. H and Noxacusis, ETD, TTTS...
If T is not caused by HL but other causes (middle ear probs, tumors, jaw, neck) can the hearing loss gets worse if the cause left untreated?
Cant stop blaming myself for how many loud clubs/concerts I went to before and the long hours of loud earbuds use. I used to sleep with them
    Anniz
dont waste time blaming yourself. I went to 3 concerts in my life, and didnt listen to things loud and it still happened to me. its a chance, not a choice.
    M
Its genetics. Some people are prone to ear damage more than others. I discovered that my wholefather family have this condition but they all got it after 50. I am the only one who got it at 20s because i speeded up my hearing loss due to noise exposure so yea i blame myself.
Seriously, what causes the occasional mild ear pain sometimes? I freak out when I experience it. Is it normal?
My gf went crazy on me for how obsessed I am with hearing protection and T. I know I am But my hearing and peace of mind is very important!
    M
Tbh. She never pushed me to do anything that migh make my condition worse. She understands. But shes complaining about how I am reading too much about Tinnitus and hearing online and constantly experimenting things myself trying to cure myself. She is right. I became a diff person. Tinnitus affected me a lot
    Anniz
Tinnitus does change you. my partner admits that he does not understand the suffering, but will try his best to support me. All I said to him was "try to listen to a beep sound on youtube for 24 hours straight, and tell me how it feels afterwards, except I don't get rest of it ever again" it really does make people think. He didn't do so , and I wouldn't want him to, but its just the thought of it...
    M
Same here, have t, h and now very ocd about my ears and protecting...
People who have had T for years here and protected their ears. Did your audiogram shape remained the same or your HL got worse over time?
    Lurius
I've had 3 audiograms over the last 3 years. One when I got tinnitus. One when I went to get evaluated for Lenire. And one in February this year. They were all the same, more or less.
If you have Somatic T along with HL. Would you go for MRI? I wanna make sure I dont have tumors but at the same time afraid of loud scans...
    Wrfortiscue
Wouldn't ear plugs work? Or that's not guaranteed?
    M
Depends on how loud the machine is. I read that some MRI reach 115db. Thats def damaging.
8 months in, T still fluctuating like crazy, change volume/pitch, swap ears, tone to hiss to static. why it is still unstable like this ? :(
    Ricardo1991
who knows! That's how I've been for the past 5 years. You will get better tho, like you will get to a point it will no longer bother you. I have learned to "embrace" my tinnitus. This has made mine not heal but just take a backseat to my life.
    Ricardo1991
I just come back here to see how others are doing and to share my story.
Day 3 of silence on my right ear, the left ear has an extremely somatic T that is easily modulated by any neck or mouth movements? any help?
    Horrorpopz
Help? If i was you id be dancing like chandler from friends XD, just dont do anything stupid and rnjoy silence mate!
LOL the T stopped again in my right ear. dead silent when I plug my ears in a quiet room. my left ear (which hears better) rings like crazy!
Dentist prescribed me an anti-biotic called Birodogyl, can this be ototoxic or have any effects on T ?
    M
the composition of Birodogyl is :
    Spiramycin : 1 500 000 U.I.
    Metronidazole : 250mg

I have a throbbing tooth pain that refuse to go away even after 3 root canals. I have to take this antibiotics and NSAID with it :(
    Steph1710
If it helps, since developing T, I've been on four lots of amoxicillin (I'm a sickly person) and it's never affected my T. I wouldn't touch other antibiotics. My T was actually caused by the antibiotic doxycycline.
    Bill Bauer
MOST people (and that includes the T sufferers) who take the medications that are on those ototoxic lists never have any problems. It's risky, but the chance that it works out is high.

If you can - avoid the risk, but of course if you feel like you can't avoid it, it's a different story.
Somatic/Reactive T + H + Dyacusis + ETD for 7 months, all of this because one day I decided to test my high frequency hearing! how stupid!!!
I am 27 and my hearing is between -10db and 0db from 125hz to 4khz, then 40db at 8khz, do I have a chance to recover some HF even by little?
7 months in, I'm so tired of hyperacusis and severe reactivity to high frequency sounds. This bothers me more than tinnitus itself :(
    OnceUponaTime
So sorry, you are going through this, Martin. Sometimes it takes some time for it to go away. I hope you feel better soon.
    sensualmosquito
I feel you there. I am 4 months in... More annoying than my hearing loss.
how come people work in super loud clubs (above 100db) everynight for years and still have good hearing and we get T from a single incident!
    O
This is what I wonder too. Bartenders, bottle service girls, security, professional DJ's. Genetics I'm guessing. Sucks to be us
    Steph1710
    Because we're really, really unlucky.
    Adaś
Makes me wonder too. Yeah we are unlucky ones/statistical tail. :(
today when I was eating, I was hearing sound in my ear like when you clean/wipe glass, is this TMJ ? I also felt some fluid drainage in ear
    Croaker
Probably. Bear in mind a lot of things can cause the sensation of "fluid drainage."
after 7 months of bilateral T, my right ear stopped ringing, it's been 3 days now and it is dead silent, the left ear is still ringing tho
    Bill Bauer
A lot of the time it is the other way around - after 6-9 months of the ringing in one ear, T spreads to the formerly good ear.

    Good for you!
    weab00
I hope the ringing stops in your other ear as well.
    M
@weab00 I hope you get rid of it too man!
