Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

But that only applies to normal cells, no? I'm not a biologist so I genuinely don't know, but aren't progenitor cells a type of stem cell and can therefore divide more often? I mean, Frequency Therapeutics said that the ear's progenitors are kind of like close cousins to the intestinal...

Regeneration of Cochlear Synapses by Systemic Administration of a Bisphosphonate

Isn't that a bit optimistic? I think I heard somewhere that in the trials they had to lie on their side for 30 minutes.

No, he said that if the hair cells are still intact, FX-322 won't "reconnect" them. Only newly created hair cells attach themselves.

Hello CAgirl, im sorry to hear what happend to you. I wish i could write you a well thought out text to calm you down but sadly im not that great with words. However, i can give you this text by michael which helped me to cope. I got steroids one month after my injury so i doubt its useless...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

In theory you should be able to fully recover. However, that depends on your ear still having functioning support cells. Without support cells the affected areas can't recover. You'd need to be at least profoundly deaf for that to happen though. We will see the limits of FX-322 after their phase...

Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

No, FX-322 only regenerates hair cells and their respective synapses. So if the cells are still alive but there's synaptic damage FX-322 won't do much to help you.

The delivery gel is part of the drug, so yes. They would need to get it approved again. However, since it would be a reformulation this process is way faster (and cheaper).

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

By the way, assuming FX-322 doesn't cure tinnitus (which I find unlikely), wouldn't it at least mean that Lenire would be more effective? I mean on the picture we can see that people without hearing loss benefitted way more than people with hearing loss. I know Lenire was a disappointment...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

In my opinion it's very promising. Just look at the results of the phase 1/2 study (that was conducted with only 1 dose). They also tested it on live human cocheas ex vivo and had good results. I think the only question left right now is not whether it works for hearing loss but whether it will...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

I wonder when they'll start their trials in Europe. After all Astellas has the rights for the rest of the world so one might think that they're pressured to release it outside of the US just as fast. Hopefully they don't start their trials after they fully release it in the US. I don't want to...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

Thank you all for the informative replies! So it really just activates the body's own innate ability to regenerate. It's like FX-322 is a surgical tool while competing approaches are more like hammers. It's also quite funny to me. Scam artists have always sold desperate people stuff that...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

It's logical considering FX-322 basically just activates the body's innate ability to regenerate. And since there's a process that regulates this regeneration and (mostly) keeps it from becoming cancerous in the rest of the body, the process should be able to do the same in the inner ear...

Beware of Your Ear Being Slapped...

I live in germany. My doc is an ENT who specialised in treating ear disorders. I looked up their site and apparently its targeting the "stellate ganglion"
