Metformin chloride, yes. It doesn't make any difference to my tinnitus though, one way or the other. This is what I found regarding metabolic tinnitus:

Bad news I'm afraid. The neurologist sent me to an MRI scan of head & neck, but they found nothing out of the ordinary. I'm screwed.

What ajc said. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the surgery worsening your tinnitus. I had a TMJ surgery quite recently and the surgeon resected an innervated ligament inside the joint but there was no change to my tinnitus. I would even say the surgery might help you getting rid of it...
