  • Hey man, saw you were from Belgium as well. I saw some of your posts, including one where you mentioned a Belgian ENT prescribing you piracetam. Do you by any chance remember what the name of that doctor was? I'd be extremely grateful if i could get the contactinformation of a doctor that at least has some idea of what he/she is doing. Thank you!
    JurgenG
Hi William, if I recall correctly it was my ENT in the hospital Sint Lucas Gent, don't remember his name but I think it might be standard procedure over there.
A while since I've been here, thats because my T has almost completely gone and it does not disturb me any longer. 18m in it improved a lot.
    New Guy
Great to hear! So happy it doesn't disturb you.
    JurgenG
Sorry for the late answer guys, I was thinking of indeed making a succes stories post, I wanted to do this for a while to support some of you, but I was afraid that being to "happy" about recovery somehow could "jinx" it.
    JurgenG
I'll try to make the post asap but I can tell you this: dramatic improvement happened around 18 months, both in dealing with T and "accepting" as recovery and thus hearing it less. Somehow they are linked pretty closely for me.
Had again something weird the other day, I "cracked" my ear, out of habbit, and it started ringing for a sec or 2. Could that be harmfull?
    L
Je weet dat dat scannen niet zo goed is he ;) maar ik weet dat het wel verschieten is. Mijn t fluctueert trouwens doorheen de dag dus ik heb die schommelingen ook leren negeren.
    L
Maar ik maak me ook wat zorgen. Er zijn tekenen dat ik een scheur heb in mijn R trommelvlies die maar niet geneest. Maar voorlopig is het nog wachten tot 6 maart voor onderzoek.
    L
    Helpt medrol dan tegen t?
I just had -honestly- the loudest door slam ever, in my history. :(( Everyone said it was loud..
    Vincent R
Having T sure is a tough going.
Spike due closing my ear with my finger and letting it lose too fast.. loud plop sound :(
    Autumnly
Sorry to hear that, hope it'll calm down in the next few days! :(
"First Anniversary You've been registered here for 1 year, congratulations!"
    JurgenG
    That's just rude.
    TheDanishGirl
One should rather get a congratulations when he/she have been inactive on the site for a year :D
    AZeurotuner
It really is though, "congratulations, you've had tinnitus for at least a year now"!
Weird: T is low (good), but my hearing seems to be a little bit less. Feel like I need to put my volume a bit higher than usual.
Hate closing my ears with my finger when it's raining, made a loud "pop" sound because of the moist.
My T is pretty pretty quiet again, I stopped using my fan at night, and just switched to very quiet whitenoise&rain sound.
anyone using soundpillow? Been using it for 9 months, helps me sleep, could it impact me negative? Speaker is close to ear like a headphone.
    TheDanishGirl
I use masking when I feel my anxiety raise and my awareness of T raise, then I put on one of my favorite masking tracks and take "a break" from the T.
    JurgenG
I've been trying to -never- hear it, so always have something masking.
    Michael Leigh
Providing the volume of the pillow speaker is kept low there should be no problem. Preferably slightly lower than your tinnitus.
I am going for hypnoses, but want to speak with my ENT first, any suggestions?
    JamesNOLA
Wow. Interested to know how this goes. I'd ask specifically if he's aware of any negative effects from hypnotherapy. Other than that, it's a whole other thing.
stupid spike, some people laughing and handclapping for around 6 seconds total, just when I didn't have plugs in.
1 y later. Still makes me sad that I knew there was a risk in what I did, but did it, with T as result. Never thought i would get T ofc. OCD
    T is worse again :'(
    Red
Same. I am helpless in my life right now, dependent on luck. Just stuck in a number of circumstances.
    JurgenG
I keep looking for reasons why it is/was worse, I had a friend do a clap a meter from me, might this be enough to give a (temp) spike?
    Red
Depends on the sensitivity of your ears and your friend's strength. I do not think that would give me a spike though. I find it strange you are wondering about a clap though, are there not other noises that are louder in your day to day life?
My girlfriend is amazing, she planned a suprise party for my 30'th, and managed to keep 35 people quiet and say "suprise" very softly!
    Elinor
On my b-day my five guests were repetitively blasting the music and told me to "get over myself" when I tried to turn it down. So indeed, that is pretty amazing! I'm kind of jealous now. :p
    Tinker Bell
Wow, that is incredibly sweet! And you have 35 friends who are awesome, too.
    Lex
You have great friends (and a great girlfriend)!
Another day another thing, I finally got home without anything loud and I HAD to drop a loud box, measured 116 dB peak I feel my ear a bit
    Red
I have had an event like this every day this week.
    JurgenG
I do feel some fullness, don't know..
    Red
Well I am hoping getting one of these a day for the past 3 days is not permanent. I will report back later. Generally though I have felt a little better after sleep.
I think I'll never get over my regret.
    TheDanishGirl
Know how you feel, cause I feel the same. I will forever beat myself up for causing this.
    dpdx
    I ruined my life
    just1morething
Life is too short to beat yourself up. We all make mistakes. We are all human. Hindsighting just makes you angry.
Anyone else who can open their E tubes on command, i just did and I felt a sharp pain, could this be harmfull?
    Michael Leigh
Pain is a warning that what you're doing isn't good. Hope things stay this way....
    JurgenG
True, but the pain might be located in the tubes, and not the innerear.
    Michael Leigh
I agree. Perhaps leaving things as they are is the best thing to do.
    Michael
Stupid things keep happening I was janking something iron lose, and it made a horrible screech. I measured it again with protection (110 dB)
    stacey
    Is medrol for anxiety?
    just1morething
It looks like medrol is like prednisone, for inflammation. I have a crunchy left jaw joint that could be inflamed...very loud noise atm.
    Onsdag
DO NOT TAKE MEDROL UNLESS DR PRESCRIBED, READ ABOUT "STEROID SIDE EFFECTS"

JURGEN WHO GAVE IT TO YOU
Today I've noticed that it's still very much there, it's been a bit worse lately. And I run around with plugs and mufs, heard my T so loud..
    JurgenG
    Ran around today*
    just1morething
Running around like a chicken with its head cut off is normal with T. :)
Tomorrow meeting with my ENT, it's been 10 months, anything I should ask him?
    just1morething
You could ask him why your neck hurts like hell? And for a Xanax refill.
    just1morething
Ask what the best med is for Sensorineural hearing loss. I thought mine could be neck related but probably inner ear nerve damage.
    JurgenG
My neck is better, my T is still louder though, kinda made a wrong move with my neck. Forgot to ask him..
List for myself: I'll be safe, I won't care about my T, what happened has happened and is a lesson, I still can do almost everything.
My anxiety is not improving at all, scared to do more and more jobs, fear that my T is getting worse...
Anyone looking back, and thinking "was my T not better a couple of months ago?" Hard to compare?
Ok, it's improving again. Let's hope I did not experience any new damage, and did not ruin any potential recovery.
Did anyone ever experience a serious spike when using MDMA or something similiar? I experienced a huge one a couple of days ago.
