  • Hey did your T improve at all over time? I did the exact same as you and gave myself T with a tone generator. I have nerve tingling down my face and my ears are cracking and popping like crazy similar to you. Curious how long it took you?
1 and half year with T. Only getting worse with time despite me not exposing myself to any loud noises and eating very healthy + supplements
    M
Double protection whenever you are outside, are you serious? This is bad for hyperacusis and bad for your overall ear health as it needs oxygen.

@Martinf I mean, maybe not when taking a walk in the woods, but when being in public places, walking down streets or such, then definitely, you don't want to put the health of your ears in other peoples hands. We can get enough sound enrichment in our homes, we don't need to be exposed to +80dB city noise to have hyperacusis under control.

I've felt the true wrath of severe hearing problems. I have a hard time determining more cruel medical conditions than this. You don't want this to worsen, the risks are too high. Then you choose double protection, or at least single protection, when outside. No compromises.
Since i got T my ears click & pop 1000 times a day. I never understand how sound can cause this. I never had ETD my entire life!

Have you considered that it might be MEM or palatal myoclonus?
    M
    Ent didnt figure out anything
My vertigo is almost gone after 5 months! Thanks god. Now back only with T and slight H
    Vassili
My vertigos were gone after a year. You are lucky.
    twa
Yay!!! Vertigo is the pits! Glad you are better!
Why I have vertigo for 3 months and only 1 year after T onset? Will it stay like this forever now :( T and V at same time is too much :(
    PortugalTheMan
    do you have meniere disease?
    M
No I have incredible low frequency hearing. But bad high frequency hearing. The V is so bad that i cant walk straight sometimes
Was exposed to a sustained car horn for 5 seconds less than one meter. Im rly worried if this will cause more damage :( I was doing rly well
    M
It was a kia picanto car and I was just passing infront of it I just hope it is the stock horn and not a custom one. If it is stock horn it shouldnt be more than 107db at 1m distance
    Christiaan
Oef, a Kia Picanto? the only thing I should worry about this car is that it is more sore to the eyes than to your ears;)
    M
Thanks dude. I think it is just my perceived loudness is not normal due to my hyperacusis. I should learn how to relax and not stress too much. All my T spikes actually are from stress.
I met someone today who has severe HL but no T at all. He said he was born like that and he never heard any ringing in his ears/head
    PortugalTheMan
in my opinion. the answer to that riddle will cure us. as long as we don't find the reason for this to happen, we won't have a cure.
Did nofap for 16 days. My T went so quiet on 7th and 8th day but then went back to what it was. Will re do the nofap for longer time.
    Steph1710
What is with this nofap business. I've seen it posted quite a bit. Why would you want to punish yourself more than you're already being punished? Just chill and bash one out.

@Steph1710 to be fair one of my tones goes with my heartbeat and it gets ridiculous when I have sexy time or fap lol. Eee eee eee eee e e e e e e e e
    Tweedleman
@Steph1710 sorry I was really inebriated when I wrote that lol kinda missed the mark trying for comedy :P Don't mind me ppl I'm just a sick Leafs fan
Someone clapped hands so loud 1 meter from my ear. Instant T spike. I read loudest clap is 113db. however some say it reaches 130db worried!
Severe vertigo/tinnitus after trying handstands :(
    twa
@Martinf I'm going to sound like a mom/teacher for a second. Why were you doing that?
    M
@twa before I got T I used to be doing yoga and being very active and healthy. I want to get back my life! But it seems everything i used to do before makes my T worse now
    kingsfan
I used to do calisthenics and would practice handstands and L-sits on my rest days. I also don't think I could do handstands anymore, just bending over spikes me for some odd reason.
My T kinda got out of my head and got located exactly in my ears. It feels more audible like a real external sound and not an intetnal one.
T spikes bad whole day whenever I exercice (no gym, no music) idk how I can live with this shit as anything makes it worse!!!
Im Experiencing occasional sharp pain in my ear and it is just like when my T started last year. I am so scared as of this means more damage
I been to beach today and it was so windy. My ears started ringing so loud. Anyone knows how to know the decibels of wind? Soundmeters dont
    twa
I'm not sure, but I know it's loud. I wear foam earplugs when it's windy.
When my T started it was either a tone or a hiss but never both at same time. Now it is hiss+static+high pitch tones all at the same time :(
Did neck/back exercices today. My T went to the roof + bad vertigo. Not sure if it is from the exercises or the prednisone i took weeks ago!
    Matchbox
Sounds a little suspicious doesn't it of a spinal /neck issue?
    M
    Yes but no doctor helped
Many nofappers are claiming that their T reduced significantly after a month of no PMO. I lnow it sounds ridiculous but I will do this
If the parents are both deaf the child has only 10% chance to get born deaf. Me, my mother at 60 can hear 19khz and me T with bad HL at 28!
It is really depressing to see my parents hearing things that I cant hear and can only see on my analyzer. Why my HL came so early! :(((
Do you guys wear earplugs even if you are in a quiet place outside to protect yourself from sudden loud noises?
    kingsfan
Every time I don't, I end up encountering something loud. Like someone dropping stuff at the store or loud cars driving up beside me on the road.

I lost it at 6khz, only left ear where my noise induced loss was originally, only when I laid down on my left side, 30dB drop.
Came back slowly over 5 hours and overnight. T/sound fx got worse in both ears over the days afterwards.
I worked on an idling engine beforehand with earplugs, ...have done that before, louder than this, with the T and no issues.
Do I need hearing aids if I only have mild HL at 6khz and 8khz? I dont have trouble understanding speech. (Only sometimes in noisy places)
    M
30db at 6khz and 40db at 8khz. What about you?
    twa
    Forever hopeful
I think many people have challenges hearing people speak in loud environments. That is pretty normal. I have extremely mild hearing loss in only one ear and the last time it was tested it was actually back in the normal range. But I usually surround myself with so much noise to block out the Tinnitus that when people talk to me I can't hear them.
Who have extreme headache especially when getting up from laying position + fatigue/dizziness because of T? How can I help myself? Im tired.
I did some jogging today. Felt my heartbeating on my neck left side and some discomfort it is also the left ear that have TTTS and Dyacusis
Whatsup with cars having train horn at 128db!!! Isnt a 115db car horn enough! Exposed to crazy loud train horn now, was only few meters away
