  • Exposed to loud ambulance siren again (which was right next to me). I'm so done with this condition. I'm so done with these possible worsenings always happening to me, it's so exhausting/tiring I can't catch a break. :(

Did u wear earplugs? Are u spiking?
    Varda
I think tinnitus sufferers should be given a small device that emits a radio frequency that causes all sirens within 50m to be silenced. It should also cut the engine on nearby motorcycles and construction equipment and power tools. This sort of device is possible to implement with technology that currently exists. The fact that they don't proves society doesn't care at all about tinnitus sufferers.
It's gotten worse now I feel... Screaming 24/7 tinnitus in my ears now especially left ear for a few days now. I really hope it calms down and goes back to it's initial baseline, it's hard to concentrate properly in this noise :(
Hello, as far as I can see, your tinnitus also started with headphones. Is yours severe and 24/7? How would you describe your level?
    orenge01
It's 24/7. It's more reactive than anything. It's most noticeable with background noises. There's a lot of whistling morse code. But then I also have the typical "eeeee" sound. It varies but, I'd say it might be hovering between level 3-5/10 so moderately noticable. Sometimes it can suddenly jump to a 7-8 but that usually lasts 30 seconds or something like that.

mine is so severe, suicidal level since it started 7 months ago

I feel bad for you man. I wish you could find some relief from it, it truly is awful. :(
The effects of these conditions seem downplayed. I don't feel it's talked about, taken seriously enough because, I mean the damage is permanent ffs. Most docs are like just learn to live with it. Not so helpful advice. I guess only those who have it actually know the severity of it. The true effects of damage just haven't been talked/warned about it seems. It's frustrating to say the least. :grumpy:

I talk about it way too much and I've become so draining to everyone around me. They just don't understand. My mother said not to talk about it ever again. But I know I can't live with this for the rest of my life. I wish I could trade a body part in exchange for silence and never speak about this wretched thing ever again. I just can't accept this. Stupid pills have ruined me.

''don't look for it and you won't find it''. Works perfectly when it's mild. But when it's worse, I just can't ''not hear it'' even when I'm not listening for it. Sorry just needed to vent.
    orenge01
No need to be sorry, it's perfectly fine. I agree with what you said. It's an awful condition, all we can do is keep waiting for a cure, and distracting ourselves from the noise. Even if you can hear it, not thinking about it is probably the best thing you can do :/
Man. It's just exhausting. It always seems to be: worry/stress about other stuff + this condition. The fucking cherry on top.
    Hej. Jak tam twoje uszy?
    orenge01
Hey thanks for asking! My ears are ok I guess no drastic changes that I've noticed. It's always a bit stressful though going outside. Especially because of the problem I mentioned earlier :/
Quite a rowdy day, was around a lot of noise unfortunately, very close to some loud construction site. I had earplugs but yeah, constantly having to adjust them so they sit correctly is definitely a problem... Kind of debating if I should go back to the simple foam ones, at least they stay in my ears.
At least I have my peltors, but I don't really want to wear them in public.
    Juliane
My peltors give me problems with my neck.
    orenge01
@Juliane yeah I wouldn't say they are very comfortable either but I trust them at least to stay on my ears securely, compared to earplugs :/
Earplugs keep falling out of my ears :/ idk if this is even viable, I might have to try different tip sizes. Kinda nervous to do that though since last time I went one size higher and it felt uncomfortable but might be because I didn't insert it correctly idk. This is annoying.
    orenge01
@weehiru Yeah I've heard of them but, I've also heard people thought they were uncomfortable so I don't know if I will be able to wear them for a long commute. But maybe I should still give them a try, it's at least cheaper than buying custom earplugs from an audiologist.
    T
Buy custom-moulded silicon earplugs. I use GN Sleep plugs (Australia). Cost $152/pair. Knocks off ~40dB off ambient sounds. I have them in for most daytime hours.
    orenge01
@trevl That's my problem, those are really expensive... Maybe someday but I can't afford that right now. :/
I wish I could go back to my previous baseline so bad now... :(
Isn't it awesome to get blasted with literally every sound like the whole day. Totally didn't happen to me today, even with earplugs, holy shit, you can't make this shitty luck up...
Seems like I'm fine. Gotta be more careful next time, I seem to lose my balance quite easily...
I just fell on the stairs and hit my head... Just my luck... Hopefully nothing changed and things are normal. I hope
no pain anymore it was probably something else causing that, but the ringing still persists in my left ear. Very loud. :/
I just realized some songs don't sound the same to me anymore they sound so different, I think I have actually officially permanently worsened my hearing. :(
    snizzleberry
How does the music sound? What happened?
    orenge01
@snizzleberry I don't know how to explain it but I guess it's that I don't hear some frequencies anymore. So some songs sound like less lively than before. As I can't hear every element in the song.

How this happened? I was making music for too long at low volume but then accidentally listened at max volume for 1 sec and listening to high end frequencies. But basically I was just really reckless.
Didn't expect for this site to get updated. It's been a really long time coming. It'll take some time to adjust to this new look though.
Hmm this spike seems to be lasting quite a while... Could possibly be a permanent increase but idk. Ugh... What a condition...
Idk if it has improved I feel I lost like at least 20% of my hearing ability. And I can only blame myself for this one. :/
That's what I get for being stupid I guess. I never seem to learn. Wishing for better days right now...
Dont make my mistake. I hope I didnt absolutely wreck my hearing like the first time again. This is not fun. Sounds are all muffled again :/
Don't you love it when T just suddenly decides to scream in your left ear as loud as possible for no reason, I sure do...
Better now been better for a while. I'm not so bothered anymore. I don't want to jinx myself though.
Just annoyed of this condition right now that's all, could also say I'm not really as accepted of this condition as I wanted to believe...
feeling a bit better now, it comes and "goes" I mean it never disappears but I have kind of learned to accept that fact already...
    L along the way
oh wow.. that's nice to read.. for me i find acceptance quite difficult, i'm living more on the philosophy of it will heal with time.
    orenge01
That too, or that there will be a complete cure someday, but as long as it is here I don't want it to control my life. That doesn't mean I'm going to be completely reckless though.
ugh it's back, I'm so done with this condition honestly, why. Just leave me alone for once.
    L along the way
pfft indeed... give us a break plz t... maybe slowly we will recover and feel well again some day
