  • Guys, science is already sure why is it that some people have tinnitus and others don't?
    twa
My dad has hearing loss. He had very mild loss in the military and developed more from occupational hearing loss. He only has mild fleeting tinnitus rarely. He didn't know he had it until I asked him about it and he said now that I listen for I think I do.
    Kriszti
Absolutely not. There are theories though, but no certainty whatsoever as far as I know. Dr. Will Sedley suspects that people with more predictive brains are more likely to develop tinnitus.
I see the sound of metal. The guy is deaf and has no T and I have no hearing loss and I have a jet engine in my ears.
    guenguer
    Guess what's worse.
The worst would be both of it.
only I am the saddest at the weekend? I think it's because I see people all happy and I am in this hell.
    Stanlex
I am also super sad. But I don't know why. My T is not that bad today. I'm just so tired from this, I wanna be normal.
    Sayeed
We will be happy eventually. The other people you see might have other problems We are unaware of. We are alive and breathing...thats something to be grateful for. I know it's hard to find the silver lining but we have to hang on to ever piece of positivity weather it's true or not.
there are people who have ATM,other problems with veins, others hit their heads somewhere.how will it be possible to silence all these cases?
Once again the doctor says my hearing is fine. But he suspects that I may have a problem with my ATM. I've already booked with my dentist.
Today I am going to a new ENT that my family says has already cured people with tinnitus. I just wanted to be told the cause of my tinnitus.
    Sayeed
Best type of docs are the ones that have tinnitus..only they understand.
    PortugalTheMan
This one didn't happen to happen. But he said that at the age of 27 I can't have this :) he says that he will surely disappear. @Sayeed
    Sayeed
That's great news! Did he give you a timefame or any other info?
Why is the noise always changing? today i woke up with a sound of two wires giving a short circuit. (and of course the ever-present static)
    Steph1710
I have different sounds throughout the day. Always changing. Never the same. It hasn't ever settled. Hope you're okay x
    PortugalTheMan
@Steph1710 but how are we going to get habituation to this if it keeps changing?

We look like a time bomb ahahaha every day is a surprise!
Seeing my T getting worse and not being able to do anything, I get more and more stressed and getting worse, I can't get out of this cycle.
    Bill Bauer
Have you been protecting your ears from noise?
    PortugalTheMan
@Bill Bauer I'm at home work, that is, I spend my days at home. at the end of the day i will always run in the park then i have the noise of nature and a bit distant from the cars. I have hearing protectors but I have not yet been in a situation that I have been forced to wear.

My medication right now is 10MG of Brintellix (vortioxetine)
i need ideas to travel around europe :) when the covid is over. Any suggestion?
I think the FX-322 is not going to solve our problem with the T, I think that even if we have the perfect hearing, the T will still be there.
    Keith Handy
Also we have not yet seen any results from the extended audiograms measuring above 8 kHz.
    PortugalTheMan
@Keith Handy I was glad that there was a pill to stop the noise for at least 9 hours to sleep :) that says a pill says a device! :D
sometimes I think that I am still dreaming and that this noise is not real!
    PortugalTheMan
I am even more scared that it is scientifically certain that it will increase with my age, and I am still only 26.
The voice of the people commands the world! Complaining here on the forum won't do any good, we need to complain to governments!
T Day? The day when we make manifestations in all cities so that they invest in treatments so that T stays lower and not for psychological.
Hall Of Fame (feat. Will.I.Am) - The Script . make this music my motivation.
    Tezcatlipoca
    Hes got severe T apparently
    Steph1710
@Tezcatlipoca yeah, he just gets on with it. Actually, it was listening to him make jokes about it, that helped me change my reaction to mine. Obviously we don't want people to think we're not suffering, but at the same time, until we have a treatment, we have to do whatever we can to make it easier for us - and if making light of it helps him, then so be it!
    PortugalTheMan
But the music is inspiring:D. William should have said that he suffered but that he could move on, I think the message is different that way :)
I have to find a way to live with T if I'm not going to lose everything I built as a family, friends, girl, work. I just don't know how :(
    PortugalTheMan
@Bill Bauer if so, i offer a dinner with everything you are entitled to!
    Steph1710
Like I said, let them know how difficult it is for you right now, and tell them you're having to rebuild your life bit-by-bit, but you'll get back to normal- you just need to take some time out to figure it all out.
    PortugalTheMan
@Steph1710 I think I am managing to make people see how I am suffering. I will start from tomorrow to change my mornings, because it is the most difficult time.
I hope that scientists are resting well, so that tomorrow they can give everything in their research, so that one day I can rest again.
    Tezcatlipoca
That is a very nice sentiment, I agree. May they have all the health and drive to deliver us the help we need.
They say that I am weak from crying and being sad about T and that I am just like that because I never had any problems in my life.
    Bill Bauer
Whoever said that has never had any chronic health issues, and are a terrible human being.
    PortugalTheMan
I hear it from my family. because they heard ENT saying that I have nothing. then they ridicule my condition

Tell them to fuck off. Or, better, just give them a pair of headphones reproducing some 14 kHz sine wave and then crank the volume up a bit. I bet they would immediatly understand
We have other problems like anyone else, but we have a T that won't let us rest, that's what makes us stronger than others.WE ARE WINNERS.
Today my static buzz went to an electric ultrasonic motor. What will come in the coming times. Wait to see the next episode. :D
In months they discover a vaccine for covid, and in years they do not find anything that will at least temporarily relieve T
    PortugalTheMan
I agree, but if you discover something for this symptom and then manage to optimize the side effects so that it is a cleaner medicine it was already a start of hope.

Our life with these noises and static is out of control, we don't know if tomorrow is worse, when we wake up in the middle of the night we can't rest anymore.
    Lurius
Well, they could always improve on Lenire by a lot, maybe it will become like a super tinnitus removal machine or something in the future? xD
    PortugalTheMan
I am sincere to you, at this moment I think more of a machine or drug to stop tinnitus than a cure for hearing loss.

Who has hearing loss and has no tinnitus is blessed !! :)

I say this because I don't have a hearing loss until 8khz xD
If there is no hearing loss up to 8 kHz, and having a very high-pitched TV hiss, could it be the auditory nerve?
