  • Six months since my tinnitus worsening, plus ten years since joining Tinnitus Talk. Grateful that my tinnitus has become less intrusive since worsening, and grateful for the wonderful people and great community here!

Curious how you gauge it as less intrusive even though it has worsened? When my T worsened and became unmaskable it became incredibly intrusive yet I became subjectively less emotionally reactive.

Maybe how you put it, "incredibly intrusive yet subjectively less emotionally reactive" is a good way to put it, because I somehow turned a corner the last couple months and now even if I hear it in certain places, it doesn't bug me as much. I'm hopeful "worsening" is actually more like a "spike" that is getting slowly back to "baseline" for me.
    BrOKeN_1
I hope that's the case. Even lower then base line would be great. Lol.
Went to a Timberwolves game and stayed for the whole thing for the first time in months. Wore heavy duty plugs, didn't have any serious after-effects. Feels good.
Looking forward to watching the 2-0 Minnesota Vikings on streaming tomorrow while I shuttle my kids around town and avoid loud noises :-D
At ENT audiology and they asked to do a 85-95 db "loud beep" to start that "doesn't damage hearing". I declined. lol
    _Shoto_
Any noise above 75 db is damaging, especially if a person has already damaged ears...what are they smoking in there!??
Went to my 6am CrossFit this morning. Felt great to feel like I'm slowly getting my life back! Still ringing but not as bad.
Deep thoughts by my 8 yr old daughter: "What if noses could hear and ears could smell?"
    cjbhab
then my nose would be ringing, or my sense of smell would be broken.

What if our noses were in our armpits?
Went back to my CrossFit class at Noon today—no big post workout spike. My instructor told me he has ringing in his ear as of this week :-(
Had my first TMJ work done today. Maybe helped a bit? The practitioner went inside the mouth and adjusted stuff like crazy. I'll go back.
Pretty much down to baseline after travel, now have a work conference this weekend. Gonna be noisy.
Hi, can you let me know if your hearing test shows the tinnitus/ear infection ear have worse hearing than the non affected ear? thank you
    marqualler
Hi Mia, no, my hearing test is mostly consistent in the "normal" range across the board other than a small notch at the 4-6k range on both of my ears. Only my left ear has ever been affected by tinnitus, though. My 2024 hearing test results are actually about the same as it was when I was first affected in 2014.

    Thanks for sharing
Wheels down from my first flight post tinnitus spike. Not the best flight but not the worst either.
    Don Tinny
Hi, man. I´m reading threads about flying. How was your experience? why do you say "not the best"? I booked a 2,20 hour flight for december. Boeing 737-800. seat row 5. Thanks in advance. Don.
    marqualler
Hi @Don Tinny Really just not as much fun flying on a flight when I have a harder time listening to stuff on headphones than normal, but other than that I had no real issues going up and down or anything like that. I've consistently used Earplanes to help me equalize the pressure and they have been really helpful.
Hey man - how is your tinnitus with the Djalilian protocol?
    marqualler
@MiaVIL No, I probably could try to go on again but I am a bit skittish after that experience.
    marqualler
I think my sound sensitivity is decreasing slightly so just sticking to the supplement side of things and adding NAC to it. Also getting on a plane tomorrow and have manu different ear protectors.
    RunningMan
I took 50 mg nortriptyline for months. I didn't affect my tinnitus or help me in anyway. I finally weaned off due to it not helping and causing side effects like dry mouth and higher heart rate.
Happy New Year, Mark! Let's wish for a quieter 2016 for us all!

I love your new photo, with your little one. What a cutie!!
    marqualler
Thanks Karen! Happy new year to you as well!

Yes, that's our new baby Colette. She is 3 months old now and a great snuggler. Our older son Malcolm is great too but was never this good at snuggling so we are enjoying it. :)
Hey Marq, How goes the summer for you and your family? I hope tinnitus is not
being to much of a hindrance to you these days. It seems as time goes on it is easier to endure this affliction.
    marqualler
Going well sir. Getting the little one ready to be a big brother to a baby sister in September. The summer is flying by too fast! Hardly have time to notice tinnitus these days which is fantastic.
Hey Marq, have not chatted with you for awhile. I stopped by to say hello.
I hope all is well for you and your family. Keep in touch.Ttyl.
    marqualler
Doing well Joe thanks! Hope you're doing well as well. Take care!
Hey Marq, Hows life treating you these days. I personally have had a
decent stretch with the T, I have had 7 out of 11 days completely good.
Thats about as good as it gets for me most of the time.
Your a blessed man Marq to have a nice son. Enjoy these next ten or so years
because they go by so fast. My little one is 26 now. Where do the years go.
Yes my avatar is my son dipping a bagel with cream cheese into frosting from a cupcake. One of my proudest moments as a father.
Hey Marq, Hope today your winning in the battle of T. I will
try and remember you in my times of prayer. It sure is very
inspiring when some of us get the victory.
    Harold
Its nice to see that you are doing ok with the T and have such a great little boy at your side....enjoy and feel enriched !
    Harold
