Vertigo and Tinnitus — What Kind of Tests Can a Neurologist Do?

I just had my second appointment because of loud noises I hear inside my ear when touching my neck. He took a full 5 minutes for an ultrasound. Everything is alright, he can't do anything else.

Vertigo and Tinnitus — What Kind of Tests Can a Neurologist Do?

I have been terribly suffering from vertigo and after waiting for weeks I was eagerly going to my appointment with the neurologist. Then all he did was to knock on my knees and toes. He asked me to follow the torch with my eyes and some other simple tests while I was laying down and that was...

Hyperacusis + Small Children — How to Handle?

hi Mike34, I started with the same symptoms as you and in addition vertigo. Using a TENS machine was the only thing which provided temporary relief. I also had all my dental work done and went to physiotherapy. The good news is that at least Hyperacusis and the face pain got better. The weird...

Sleep Aids — Some of It Sounds Appealing

It's worth a try and it's certainly a healthy thing to do. I got sick of Kiwis though since I could only find unripe Kiwis in the supermarkets and they never really become sweet. I have big troubles sleeping through the night since two months. I took Zolpidem for a few weeks but it only gave me...

Sleep Aids — Some of It Sounds Appealing

I tried sour cherry concentrate and ate 4 Kiwis before going to bed for around 6 weeks. There are studies which show that this should help with sleep but it didn't do anything for me.

    Someone Working with Development/Programming/Coding?

I used to be a programmer, but in my current profession it is very important to be able to concentrate. I still have bad days, but things got much better after three months. At least I can get work done. I never managed to get used to the ACRN sound so I use this website every day...

    Meniere's Disease

I don't understand the noises as well. On my tinnitus side I can hear and feel a whooshing sound when I touch near the ear or even just by touching the neck slightly. When I keep pressing the sound goes away after a moment and then comes back every third pulse. Why every third pulse? I still...

    Meniere's Disease

I still get that random dizziness. Things didn't change much and I am still in high spirits every morning until the moment I sit down to work. But I am a stubborn person and I still refuse to accept that things will stay like this. I am trying out many things and had some success with a TENS...

    Meniere's Disease

I haven't been diagnosed with Meniere but the doctors so far weren't bothered to diagnose anything beside tinnitus. I do experience many things which you describe. Half of my face feels numb, my ear feels full and in pain. After I was outside for 3 hours I become so tired that I fall asleep in...

    Tinnitus Ruining My Career

For the side effects like anxiety you might want to try L-Theanine and if you can't sleep then use time released Melatonin. These things actually do work and I wish that I would have known about them before I had tinnitus. But it's similar for me. This morning I was again in high spirits and...

    Tinnitus Ruining My Career

I signed up for the AM-101 trial one month ago. It's a two and a half hour trip to the hospital to have the interview and my case wasn't completely clear. But Auris Medicalis approved it and said that the doctor confirmations I could get would be enough. My hope was back. I was told that I...

Flupirtine — Another Potassium Channel Opener

I just had a quick look on German boards and there are only few people which report big changes. But most seem to have taken the medicine for a short timeframe. Some had to cancel the treatment because blood tests were showing liver problems but I don't think that anyone took Acetyl Cysteine at...

Flupirtine — Another Potassium Channel Opener

During my research about potassium channel openers I stumbled across this study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24681057 One drug which stood out for me was Flupirtine, which is a pain medicine and quite common in Germany. And it turned out that they registered a patent in 2001! English...

Meclizine (Postafen, Bonine) Helped a Guy to Cure Tinnitus

For those who want to try Meclinzine in Europe but can't buy it locally, Google for Agyrax. There is one pharmacy in Belgium and one in the Netherlands which ship it internationally. It's a pack of 50 and much cheaper than ordering Dramamine from the UK. Mine will arrive tomorrow but I don't...

Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation: Do It Yourself Guide

I've been using it for several days and even if the sound is annoying and can be tiresome it does give some temporary relief at least. I used the software which Royz posted and copied the mp3 file to my phone. If my tinnitus gets too loud at night it also helps me to sleep.

Retigabine (Trobalt, Potiga) — General Discussion

Does anyone know in which European country doctors are willing to write prescriptions for this? I have Tinnitus since three months and the doctors I've seen weren't helpful so far. They stuck to: "you need to rest and learn to live with it" and were unwilling to write prescriptions for much...
