    Viagra/Sildenafil with Pre-Existing Tinnitus

Hi all, I'm experiencing performance-anxiety-related erectile dysfunction (ED) and was recommended using ED medication (e.g. low dose of Viagra/Sildenafil) a few times to rebuild my confidence. I was wondering: is there anyone on the forum who takes Viagra/Sildenafil? Is there any change in...

Delayed Loud Tinnitus Spike from a Loud Video Clip or the Dentist? Confused and Scared

As much as I agree with you on taking reasonable precautions, I don't really see any easily avoidable mistakes here... OP, stay strong. As with any spike - this is very likely to reduce in volume, at least some, or even go back to how it used to be. Tinnitus is horrible, but you can do this.

Shooting a Gun in Police Academy — Could I Do It with Tinnitus?

Sorry to hear that. Good decision. No, it is not possible. The bones in your skull can conduct noise - normally it is negligible, but with extremely loud noise such as gunfire it can be significant and sufficient to cause damage.

Hello Everyone, New in the Forum, Tinnitus Since 3rd August

Try not to do it. My method is to tell myself 'I hear some sound and I don't care' every time you catch yourself listening for your tinnitus. The idea is that you don't want to teach your brain to see tinnitus as a threat so it can start doing it's job again (filtering out tinnitus so you don't...

Perceiving 'normal' sounds as loud/painful/causing discomfort is called hyperacusis and it's common too, unfortunately. For some it goes away quite quickly, sometimes it sticks around for longer. Try to relax as much as possible (I know how hard that is now). Calm down your nervous system a...

Still Go Clubbing or to Bars or Go Rave at Music Festivals?

I'm going to repeat one last time: there is no reason to believe noise exposure caused those people to worsen. (Its your thesis, you can't assume it) You have no control group and hence you didn't really investigate anything.
  44. maltese

Still Go Clubbing or to Bars or Go Rave at Music Festivals?

All you know is that X% of people surveyed worsened. This could mean that X% of people with T will worsen regardless of noise exposure. No comparison to a control group

I'd be careful with nightclubs - there are loud venues and LOUD venues. But I agree. For me, it's not about loud places here. I actually agree with @Bill Bauer that they're dangerous... It's about unnecessary fear.
  46. maltese

Still Go Clubbing or to Bars or Go Rave at Music Festivals?

@Bill Bauer For now, all you have is "people who have tinnitus have a significant chance of worsening with time", which is NOT true either because your sample is highly biased (doesn't include people who don't attend loud events).

Still Go Clubbing or to Bars or Go Rave at Music Festivals?

I'm just encouraging you to think about the impact your words have on other people. A few months ago, a room with people talking and laughing would cause significant pain for me and therefore I'd see a few people talking as a typical "loud event" as I had to wear "heavy duty" earplugs. And yeah...
  48. maltese

Still Go Clubbing or to Bars or Go Rave at Music Festivals?

NO. STOP. You can not conclude that from this poll. You need a sample of people who never attended a loud event (after T), compute the probability from there and then show that the difference is statistically significant
  49. maltese

Still Go Clubbing or to Bars or Go Rave at Music Festivals?

As previously stated, it's an estimate of a probability of worsening your T if your lifestyle includes loud events. Your post is misleading. Poll: Have You Ever Attended a Loud Event (After the Onset of Tinnitus) and Regretted It?
