Are Alpine MusicSafe Pro Earplugs Good?

Are these earplugs good?

Do these work well in the movie theater, school and even on an airplane?

Yes. Very good. They only have 18dB protection and they dont look great but boy, they do sound great. Buy them, you wont regret it :)

I dont know if they'll be enough for a movie theater though... But somebody else should advise you on that - I haven't been to movies in ages.

I used them quite a bit when flying and they're ok. Ear muffs are much better for flying.

You will have a nice collection of different hearing protection products after some time, so don't overthink it - buy and try it yourself :)

@maltese @Amiel I will buy them tomorrow. Which colour is harder to notice in the ear white or silver?:)

I won't go go movies for at least 2 months so I will only use these for now at the bus in the traffic, restaurants and school.

I used to use these all the time in my late teens when playing in bands. In fact, I used them so much that the flexible material started breaking after a while. I had to replace them every couple of months and it got to the point where custom molded earplugs would roughly be equally expensive :woot:

These are much better than the disposable ones, because they're so much easier and quicker to insert. For loud music I would recommend something else, but for movies, events with people applauding etc., these should be perfect for not too much money.

I used them at concerts before and they did a good job. They don't give maximum protection but i felt it lowered the volume enough to make it comfortable.

@walkthroughwalls
For loud music I would recommend something else,
What would you recommend for loud music? I am having a prom like thing and we have to practice our dancing. We will dance with music so I will definitely use earplugs. The training starts in 3 months. I don't know how loud the music will be, last year it was probably 85 dB.

So should I use these Alpine earplugs on the practice or get some new ones?

85dB is ok with Alpine Musicsafe IMHO. Listen to your ears and have foam plugs as backup. You'll be fine

I completely agree with maltese here. As for foam plugs, I've had better luck with the softer kind rather than the harder ones. 85 dB seems a bit low for dancing music volume, so definitely bring the foam ones.

@maltese so should I buy the silver ones then? There are even black ones.
Well... If you want to be this precise about it... :pompous:

The lighter ones (white, possibly silver) will go yellow. The silver ones will possibly stand out more, when wearing them. If you plan on using these plugs at a party, the dark ones are harder to find on floor, in case you drop them.

I finally got my Alpine earplugs, how do I remove the filters from the plastic?

Do I just need to pull them strong using force.

Do I just pull them out?

I recently bought the Alpine MusicSafe Pros. I actually have two questions for any musicians or audio professionals out there:

1) how do you sing, or even speak, with these in (I hear my voice in my head, very distracting) and
2) has anyone had an audiologist actually recommend using these, or other musician's earplugs? If so what did they say actually?

I ask because I saw an ENT and an audiologist, but neither mentioned using ear protection at all, let alone what type to use. I don't think I can afford the custom-molded type at the moment.
