How Do You Keep Your Job in the Beginning? I Cannot Work...

I was 46 when my T came on. I was very stressed for four weeks. But after a while I realized that being stressed about my T was taking a lot of energy. And when I forced myself to focus on work, I had small victories - I didn't notice my T for 10 minutes, then 20 minutes, then hours. I...

    Exercise

I run with the yellow peltor earplugs on the treadmill. When outside I don't wear plugs. My tinnitus does seem louder after running, but it's probably due to the increased blood flow, etc. But overall I have not noticed an adverse effect. That's just me, YMMV. Good luck

    Tinnitus Is Unfair, Period

It might go away, it might not. But the longer you keep worrying about it going away, the longer you will take to habituate. Try accepting that you will have it the rest of your life. It presence is really beyond your control now, but your reaction to it is not. Good luck.

If You Have Had Tinnitus Under Two Months Read This

Whatever works for a person. FWIW, one thing that helped me turn the corner was realizing some people have it much worse - dealing with terminal illnesses, undergoing chemo, and so on. Put me in a frame of mind that things were going to be fine, despite the cicadas and hissing I still hear to...

The Sound of an Airbag Deploying Is 160 dB. What Can One Do?

Hardly judgmental. I just don't want anyone else to think its a good idea to disable a life saving device that deploys in a car accident so they don't risk hearing damage. That makes little sense to me. There are many conditions that are worse than T, like serious head injuries. And this is...

The Sound of an Airbag Deploying Is 160 dB. What Can One Do?

So your airbag doesn't deploy, your head smashes against your steering wheel, and you live the rest of your days as a quadriplegic. But your T isn't any worse. How about...buy a set of Peltor combat arms ear plugs and leave them in your car if you're that worried about an air bag deploying...

How Do You Manage the Thought of Tinnitus Being a Lifetime Condition?

I just decided I had to accept it. When I first got T I didn't sleep much and I was focusing on the noise. After a few weeks I was tired and worrying about T took too much energy. I said "Screw it, I've got to learn to live with this; if I'm lucky, I'll have 45 years left, and I'm not going...

    Rattle/Distortion When Listening to Music

By loud volume I don't mean concert levels. More like a "6" on an amp that "goes to 11." I suppose that's moderate for most people. (Music didn't hear my ears, a gunshot did). All subjective, I suppose, and my post didn't quantify the volume.

    Rattle/Distortion When Listening to Music

Ever since my acoustic trauma four years ago, certain music distorts at high frequency and after moderate volume. Foo Fighters are a group that I can no longer listen to at loud volume. Ditto some violin, e.g., Oliver Colbenson. Is what it is...I don't worry about it, I just keep the volume...

    Ear Infection/Noise-Induced Tinnitus Recovery?

Hopefully your T is only temporary. My wife had a bad sinus infection resulting from a plugged ear during a long flight from India. Her ear rang for about two weeks. She's had sinus problems, and when she gets a bad flare up she'll get T. Yours may clear up, hopefully it does. If not, don't...

Best Guess on When Tinnitus Will Be Cured?

Not in my lifetime, and hopefully I have about 40 years left. The best thing for me when I got T was to accept I would have it for the rest of my life. Once I stopped waiting for it to go away or searching for treatments, I began to accept it quickly and moved on.

    Is There Life After Tinnitus?

There's life if you choose to live it. Yeah, T sucks, but many people have physical problems that are much, much worse. I have it 24/7, and I have a head cold right now so I pretty much ear the T over everything. But it doesn't bother me. The way I got over T was that I realized I would...
