Hey! I wonder how you're doing? I found your message on my profile a bit late, because I did not come back to the forum for a long time. Just let me know how things are (:
It's just hard to feel like there is something medically wrong (in the end we know our bodies the best) and not being taken seriously. For me, I'm not giving up the search yet. And in the meantime I'm trying to accept the sounds.
@Matchbox yes thank you! I definitely feel like there's something off there and doctors keep ignoring it. A psychiatrist said it could be trigeminal neuralgia and prescribed tegretol. Looking into that now..
I'm two months in and it has been very constant/sometimes its worsening. But giving myself a time frame helps to put the suicidal ideation aside for now..
Aw I'm glad I've discovered this wonderful thread - look at you guys!
Going through pictures is hard, because I miss my life and how it was. It feels like I'm mourning over it.
I decided to post this picture with my mom as she is my rock and best friend, especially in situations like this there...
About the same audiogram as 5 years ago when I was 20. My ENT said the right eardrum was collapsed inward a bit (decreased pressure). Does that explain the air-bone gap?
Also, I guess my tinnitus got worse (7 weeks in now) from increased hidden hearing loss?
I'm still trying to find an...
Hi Rust, I get that you're worried but I don't think this will cause a permanent spike.
May I ask how long your drug induced (cocaine) spike lasted? I did not want to post on an old thread, but since you're active again... I'm going through something similar right now and it has been around 7...
I'm in a 'spike' that is getting constistanly worse. When I say this it's not about what I experience in a short time such as a day/couple days. I've had it 20+ years.
Thank you @Steph1710 for your support (also on my statuses). I'm not exaggerating when I say it is life-saving.
I read about spikes taking a long time to get back to baseline. I really hope so!
I'm from the South-West (Zeeland), close to Belgium :) I like Arnhem! Did you enjoy your time in...
Update
So I went to see the ENT in Antwerp, Belgium. Nothing came out of that, he said I have ETD and that my right eardrum was retracted and red. My left eardrum is basically all scar tissue because of the many ear infections I had as a kid. He gave me Avamys (nasal spray) and sent me on my...
Yes, it changes pitch and times with my heartbeat. I can feel it as well. Gets worse when I exercise, which is the worst because that's one of the few things that distract me :( Where should I press my neck? Also everything keeps getting worse. It's really hard to try and stay positive here...
I was wrong, my appointment is the day after tomorrow lol (ADD brain). I will call and see if they can first examine if it is truly necessary. Thank you all!
Today, I declined this test. Thanks to the forum/thread. I'm glad I did, because it wouldn't have made a difference for what my ENT eventually told me and could've made things worse (you can all guess what he said).
Bumping for awareness!
I am currently roughly one month into what I hope is a spike. It's never been this bad. New sounds, no sleep, trying to manage my anxiety and not think of suicide.
I developed hyperacusis two weeks ago. Even though I had tinnitus ever since I can remember, the hyperacusis is totally new to me...
Alright, I hope this goes for me! We will just have to wait and see and in the meantime I will protect my hearing like @Michael Leigh says.
Is it possible that it's my wisdom tooth?
My hyperacusis is getting worse, what can be the cause of that? I cannot seem to find an answer to that.
Thank...
Hi there,
I'm so glad I found this forum. The community seems very supportive.
I've had tinnitus since I can remember - ever since I was 4 I told my parents about it.
Long story short: my parents tried everything available back then, nothing helped. Eventually I guess I habituated. In the next...
