    Loud Noises Setting Off Tinnitus

Hi @Keegan and everyone else. Overall, I am doing better. Have bad days (like today), seeing a cognitive therapist that's helping a bit. It no longer freaks me out as it once did. I'm not on any medication or sound therapy, and I'd say 50% of the time it's not bothering me as much. I have been...

    Loud Noises Setting Off Tinnitus

Hi Louie My tinnitus up until this year has only been noticeable when quiet and really only when I thought about it. Since the beginning of this year it has got louder and with me all the time. Am having a spike right now after a few days of relative peace :(

Does Anyone Get Lightheaded and Over Weird Things with Their Tinnitus?

I think the floaters came because I wasn't eating well. Both times came after a virus. As for the expert. He said neuromonics. The search continues...

    Neuromonics

I think for the price, it's worth a try. Better than outlaying $5k and not to have it make a difference. Might make it my night time listening. I'm normally in bed by 9 anyway.

    Teacher Troubles

Gosh, I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have to teach and have T. Well, I can a little bit as I had to go to my son's trampoline party today with a lot of screaming kids, and music played far too loud. I had ear plugs in, but left and sat in the car til they were done. My primary job...

    Taking Benadryl to Sleep

I took 25 mg. Was asleep by 8, woke at 4am, then nodded off til 6. The night before I only got 5 hours. I woke up and it was say 5/10. The day before I'd give it a 7/10. As I woke, and got my head together, it dropped to a 3/10 where it's remained most of the day. I did some yard work, went for...

    Taking Benadryl to Sleep

My T was screaming at me all day yesterday. Took some B, knocked me out and T is more bearable today.

    Neuromonics

I've just been offered Neuromonics. Would I pay the $4k to have my tinnitus removed or quietened? Hell yes. However, it would have to be assured before I'd give up my hard earned.

Anyone Have Tinnitus Lower in the Morning? Or Any Idea What Might Be Causing This Biologically?

Mine generally starts lower in the am, and then by midday is loud, and gets worse from there. Sometimes I wake up and it's really low for a couple of seconds and I think, wow, it's low, and then it goes up. If I could just stop that thought process...

Is There Anything That Can Be Done from Increased Tinnitus Due to Bad Cold/Bronchitis?

I recently had the flu and coughed a hell of a lot. Still cough a bit now 3 weeks after. The t has spiked, and I think it is pretty much the same as when I was really sick. From what I've read it can be a few weeks for it to calm down. I do feel pressure in my ears, and I am blowing my nose a...

Does Anyone Get Lightheaded and Over Weird Things with Their Tinnitus?

Sometimes I get floaters or feel quite nauseas. It feels like I'm not in my head, my vision gets a little weird, like I can see but I can't see. Experiencing it right now and my T is screaming my head off. I'm beginning to wonder if I have something else wrong, or if it's just because of my...

Going to Psychiatrist. What Should I Know First?

I went to an ent and my high range hearing is shot. Apparently. I haven't seen the t expert yet, that's monday too. Gotta keep being positive as best you can. Don't let it be master.

    Tinnitus and Your Eyes

No bloodshot for me, but I do feel kind of surreal sometimes when looking at things. Not sure how to describe it really, but I look at tv for example and it doesn't seem to be how it used to be.

Going to Psychiatrist. What Should I Know First?

Seeing a therapist myself next Monday, after seeing a T specialist in Philly. Not expecting miracles, really expecting to be told pretty much what I've read on here. My doc has prescribed me with zoloft and xanax. I started on the zoloft, but then came down with the flu and haven't touched it...

    Tamiflu and Tinnitus

I recently had the flu and took tamiflu. My T was very loud over this time, but I was coughing my guts up which I think had a lot to do with it. Still coughing, still a bit of phlegm 2 weeks on, T has remained loud, although today it was a bit more bearable, Maybe settling down again finally.

A Quote That Really Hit Home

I am a fan of the old philosophes of the enlightenment age, through to the founding fathers of the USA. I came across this quote from John Locke last night, and it hit home. I think it's perfect for this damned condition. It's something we can all take and apply to ourselves. The quote is only...

Will My Tinnitus Spike Decrease After Being Sick?

Mine has spiked. I went on zoloft, but I seemed to have had a reaction to it, got really bad sore throat and cough. Have only taken two, but no more. Today has been hell, and my T is the loudest it's ever been. I didn't get any sleep last night, and am only drinking water again properly now, so...

    Hearing Aids and Masking

Well, discovered why it was causing so much itching, I went to the docs today and she looked in my ear and it's all red raw and has been bleeding where the aid was rubbing in my canal. So I have returned the hearing aids and the doc has prescribed Zoloft and Xanax to help me remain calm. Have a...

    Hearing Aids and Masking

I've been trialing hearing aids the past week and a bit. I'm really unsure if they're working or not. I've been wearing them each day and they have improved my hearing at the higher frequencies a little, but the T is still roaring. Last Saturday I tried going the day without wearing them, and I...

    Loud Noises Setting Off Tinnitus

Thanks @billie48 It's quietened down today, which I am pleased about. Very loud yesterday, but I remained calm and positive, even got to sleep easily. Frame of mind is so important and even though yesterday was a bad day, I kept ignoring its effects and just got on with things. It's not going...

    Loud Noises Setting Off Tinnitus

Guess this would be the appropriate forum. My T spiked at the beginning of the year, had a hearing test, hearing is cactussed 2khz and above, which is where T kicks in at. Done some weeping, few sleepless nights, a few nights of ambien (which I'll never take again), and then found a thread on...

    Temperature Changes and Tinnitus

It's been extremely cold the last couple of days here, down to 18F. I've noticed my T is worse, particularly today when it's been at its coldest. I'm not on any medication, although I had 3 ambien at the beginning of the week. No more of those though, just a couple of melotonin to help get off.

Have a Referral to See a Specialist

It's an ent, but with a great deal of tinnitus experience apparently. However looking deeper it seems treatment is mostly therapy related, and I'm not sure would be anymore beneficial than the info here. I went for a hearing check a few weeks back and was advised to get hearing aids. As for...

Have a Referral to See a Specialist

Going to set up an appointment (hope he takes my insurance). But do they really help? What sort of thing can I expect from a specialist? Am I best of just trying things from here? I saw my doc who prescribed me with Ambian sleeping tablets on the nights I struggle. Haven't taken one yet, as...

    Chiropractic Neuropathy

Here's how it went. I'm not sure if it worked or not. I seem to be coping better this week although it can be noisy at times. My spine was quite out of alignment before the manipulation (had xrays done), and the C1 bone I think it's called was too close to my skull. There's a ton of neuro stuff...

    New Tinnitus Case

I've been a sufferer for most of my life. It's got really bad the past few weeks. Couldn't sleep one night, but anxiety does not help, and as hard as it is, you have to remain positive and not freak out about it. I'm actually telling myself I like the noise to try and calm myself down. I went...

Does Tinnitus Get Worse Over Time?

I'm 44, and have had tinnitus for as long as I can remember. It is the high pitched sound, and for the most part I have been able to live with it, it's always been in the background. Couple of weeks ago, I got back from a walk, and I felt my tinnitus instantly get worse. I felt a little...
