The pain is like sharp needles in the ears. The higher pitched the tinnitus gets the more pain there is. Yes sometimes a dull earache accompanies it but not constantly. I take two 5000mg paracetamol per day and sometimes additional ibrupofen.

I have hyperacusis pain in my ears, brain, and upper throat. Inside the brain is worse and pretty scary as well as painful. It should improve over time as long as you protect your ears when you go outdoors. Use quality ear plugs. Some folks use sound therapy but others say you need silence and time to let them heal. I have reactive T that distorts the sound of the TV and amplifies it. Sometimes I just give up or use subtitles. What did we all do to deserve this living Hell?!

You were right, Marlino. The doctor put me up to 30mg mirtazapin and it's caused a major spike... have gone back down to 15mg and might try to keep on it as my depression is a bit better (today anyway).
