    Out of curiosity how hard were you hit? I was hit a while ago on the side of my face by accident and my T immediately spiked and it lasted for 2-3 weeks before going back down. It wasn't even a very hard slap or so it seemed at the time.

    This may seem like a weird question, but are you in the U.K.? I’ve found that ENTs in the States often give steroids for tinnitus and say it could be helpful, but the ones in the U.K. won’t and say it’s it helpful unless you also have some hearing loss.

    Have you tried looking at academic research articles on the subject using Google scholar or your local library? Those articles will be writtten by doctors in the field who you could reach out to. It will also give you a good sense of where the latest research is in terms of cures and such.

    The time I took Cipro when my tinnitus increased it was for UTI, not an ear infection. My tinnitus was constant for nearly 10 years and about 3 hours after taking Cipro, my tinnitus was through the roof.

    Remember that auditory ear damage is cumulative. A few times with your earbuds might be fine but over time, if you're listening to them at unsafe levels, it could be doing long term harm that shows up as a spike eventually. I'd also dial down the 85db level a little lower if I were you.
