Share Your Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine Experience: Any Impact on Your Tinnitus or Hyperacusis?

It's been almost 4 weeks after my second Moderna shot. No side effects after the first shot. The day after the second shot, I felt chills and my tinnitus was definitely elevated but within the normal range. Everything pretty much went back to normal the following day. There had been the...

Agreed except for the "Donald Trump" part. For me, and I'm sure for pretty many as well, this election is not about Democrats vs Republicans. All I see in Trump is someone who did, and will continue to do, many hurtful things to mankind, to which there is nothing else he could have done right to...

    Can Propranolol Worsen Tinnitus?

Sounds like you take this as needed for occasional anxiety? To control blood pressure, propranolol probably needs to be taken consistently and at higher dose. That could make a huge difference. I hope that's true.

    Can Propranolol Worsen Tinnitus?

    Why Advise Against Headphones?

Something I Don't Get with Your Brain Is Trying to Replace the Lost Sound Frequency Theory

I never buy that theory. I find it hard to believe that the brain will do something so stupid. The brain just interprets what comes its way, which in case of tinnitus, is the sounds produced by the damaged hair cells that are not the same sounds when they are normal, and hence not interpreted as...

Tinnitus Distractions — What Do You Like to Do to Keep Distracted from Your Tinnitus?

That would work for me, but they are mostly shortlived activities. On the other hand, basic chores work really well for me. I seem to be able to focus on chores without efforts. Sadly for me, reading is a no go. T distracts my focus in reading, not the other way.

Mine spike as well after on the treadmill, but it's much more likely to do with the treadmill noise than cardio since it's just normal pace walking. Doesn't your treadmill make noise? Tinnitus Distractions — What Do You Like to Do to Keep Distracted from Your Tinnitus?

I don't believe in the brain "intentionally" generating tinnitus when starved of noise nor in the theory of recruitment. From what I have read, tinnitus "spreading" from T ear to good ear seems to be the norm rather the exception, myself included. My own theory is that the brain neural network basically is common to both ears. What starts in one ear eventually gets picked up by the other. My T ear is reactive...

Why Do People Here Go to Drastic Measures to Protect Themselves?

Loudness is only one factor in determining whether certain sounds are safe or not. Pitch and duration are just as important. Experts handwave a number 85dB as safe in terms of hearing loss. But many of us has no measurable loss but yet suffer a wide ranging severity of ringing. There must be...

Why Do People Here Go to Drastic Measures to Protect Themselves?

That's my biggest fear too! It's just unimaginable. I'd rather be dead than to see my children suffer and I'm dead serious. If I really have to say one positive outcome about my T, it is the impact on me that my son actually sees which makes him more conscious about loud noise. Even then, he...

Why Do People Here Go to Drastic Measures to Protect Themselves?

People also get complacent if continuing headphone use, concerts going even with plugs, exposing to loud noises, do not worsen their T. Guess what? T is cumulative and one day it will just take this one more loud event to push it to the point of no return.
