I don’t have the time or the inclination to answer my “hate mail”. If I got through to one person, then I can consider my time on this forum, not a total waste of my time. Good luck, and goodbye.

@Autumnly: Just enduring isn’t habituation. Will all endure in some way or another. Habituation is forgetting or not caring that your ears even ring. After they have been making a racket for a length of time, you just get used to the ringing, and it doesn’t bother you anymore. It is the new...

@DebInAustralia: Perhaps. I think these members are being led down the wrong path though. As you and I both know habitation is a reality. They will have us think that only a cure is the answer, and they scoff at any other method of recovery. These people are so wrong, and are doing a disservice...

Liars, Thieves and Finally an ENT Who Gets It

I knew @Bam was full of it when he posted that photo of his facilities at that mental ward. Since when do they allow patients to keep their cell phone in a psych ward. They take away your belt, and anything that you can harm yourself with. Do you have an answer to that @Bam. And he won’t tell...

@Autumnly: I’m working again, and I no longer take an anti depressant. I’m cool. I did read you are housebound, and I can relate, as I didn’t leave my house for a month. At my son’s insistence, I started walking, and never looked back. Exercise is crucial when you have t. And I took the anti...

    Recovery

People who are suffering have to come up with a different game plan than waiting for a cure that might never happen. I’m not trying to rain on anybody’s parade, but I have noticed to many people praying for a cure, while eschewing other methods of getting better. Some cognitive measures can...

After two years of severe tinnitus, my shrink put me on 7.5 mg of mirtazapine. I had a new lease on life. I wasn’t sleeping at all, and the mirtazapine put me out the first night, and I didn’t look back. My tinnitus was still severe, but at least I was sleeping. After some time, my tinnitus...

Are There Any Inspirational Bible Verses That Have Helped You with Tinnitus or Depression?

Have representatives from all religions, put them in a huge octagon, and have them fight to the death. Religion is no stranger to violence, so it should be a spirited ( pun intended ) free-for-all. The winner will determine our global religion.

Poll: Are You Ashamed to Tell People That You Have Tinnitus?

Poll: Are You Ashamed to Tell People That You Have Tinnitus?

@Julien87: What you say is true. If you keep it together when telling people your condition, then it is cool. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case with most individuals, as evidenced on this forum.

Poll: Are You Ashamed to Tell People That You Have Tinnitus?

Uniformed people come in all ages. But we must realize we have a rare form of tinnitus, not known to the masses. I also think most of the 10 percenters had other issues before they contracted T. That is why we suffer as we do. We must work on these problems, as well as tinnitus.

Poll: Are You Ashamed to Tell People That You Have Tinnitus?

If you tell people you are suffering and such, you will scare them off. Nobody wants to hear that shit. Most tire of the constant complaining, bellyaching, and crying. That includes family members.

Poll: Are You Ashamed to Tell People That You Have Tinnitus?

I talked about it at first, but the people I encountered with tinnitus, acclimated in short order. They coundn’t understand my dilemma. I never knew anybody with severe or profound tinnitus, until I joined TT.

    I Can't Do Work Anymore

I think most of us, (the 10 percenters) bring some kind of baggage with us when we contract tinnitus. That is why a lot of us suffer as we do. For me I have had trouble sleeping for 5 or so years. That is one of the worst case scenarios for someone with T. I didn’t sleep much for 2 years...

Has Anybody Here Been to a Support Group for Tinnitus?

@Luman: I was looking at your Tinnitus Today site. ATA they call themselves. They want monthly contributions, name them in your trust or real estate, and such. I’ve been on this forum for a couple of months, but have had tinnitus since January 2014. That is longer then most of the people on this site. @Christophe_85: Try wax ear protection. They come in a pack of about 8 or 9. Follow the directions, and you will be amazed at the results. I swim, and that is what I use. They are also great for blocking out noise. I use them at night to block out my wife’s snoring. Lol

One Year Anniversary and My Departure

Hoping for a cure is unrealistic. Approximately 90 percent of people with tinnitus acclimate after a short time. My brother has T, and never missed a night’s sleep. Statins and Tinnitus

@Lane: That vitamin C theory has been around for decades. Linus Pauling (I’m not sure of the spelling of his last name) was touting the vitamin years ago. He would sit there with a mound of C, and eat it with a spoon, and some water. He proclaimed it was good for everything, and was a magic...
