I've Habituated, Not Surrendered — I No Longer Monitor My Tinnitus or Think About It

Congrats! I remember going through the same transition: every other minute, to an hour, to a couple of hours, to days, to weeks and so on. You will get there.

I've Habituated, Not Surrendered — I No Longer Monitor My Tinnitus or Think About It

Correct, I don't check it often. Before replying to you, I actually had to cover my ears and pay attention in order to confirm it has stayed that way because I hadn't checked in so long.

Do you think something noise-related could've triggered this spike? Have you ever experienced a spike like this before?

I've Habituated, Not Surrendered — I No Longer Monitor My Tinnitus or Think About It

I've been dealing with sinus infections for years plus I do have a history of listening to loud music through earbuds, so it was probably one of those. The first day I noticed it, it was unilateral but soon affected the other ear, and has stayed bilateral ever since. It started pretty loud but...

I've Habituated, Not Surrendered — I No Longer Monitor My Tinnitus or Think About It

It started as a moderately loud 'eeeeee' noise in one ear, then it moved to both. Over time, it constantly changed from ringing, to hissing, to screeching, then eventually (about 6 months after I initially noticed it) it changed to a quiet dial tone-like noise accompanied by an even quieter TV...

I've Habituated, Not Surrendered — I No Longer Monitor My Tinnitus or Think About It

My 3 year anniversary is near and the tinnitus isn't gone (but it is extremely mild). I've habituated. Tinnitus is just not a part of my day-to-day life anymore. I do still take care of my ears by avoiding loud sounds like the plague and I haven't worn headphones in years. I went from...

Quarantine Has Dehabituated Me :( Anxiety and Helplessness Have Come Back

Well, supplements or not, one thing is for sure: tinnitus + quarantine is the worst combo possible, lol! Either way, I hope you're able to find some relief. My anxiety was pretty bad on Monday and my mood has already improved so much, so yours can, too.

Quarantine Has Dehabituated Me :( Anxiety and Helplessness Have Come Back

Thank you so much for your reply, when things get rough (or rougher, in our case) messages like these can mean a lot! I'm already feeling way better. I just can't wait for this whole COVID-19 mess to finish.

Quarantine Has Dehabituated Me :( Anxiety and Helplessness Have Come Back

I was very much habituated to the point where I had no emotional reaction to my tinnitus, but with the quarantine and feeling isolated the anxiety and hopelessness have come back. I know everyone is having a hard time with the pandemic situation, but I feel like people with tinnitus are having a...

Tinnitus Fading Gradually... Sinusitis Is a b!t©h

My tinnitus is most likely caused by ETD from my sinusitis/allergic rhinitis. After almost 3 months of incessant bilateral multitonal ringing I can finally say I'm making some significant improvement. I have/had a HUGE allergy plus my ears sometimes feel clogged and they make a clicking sound...

Is There Anything I Can Take for My Sinusitis/Allergic Rhinitis That Won't Make Things Worse?

English is 2nd language. I developed a mild case of tinnitus on August 12th, I went to the ENT and turns out I have a huge allergy, she told me that since my sinuses where so congested, that was likely causing my ears to ring/be blocked. I recently was on Montelukast (Singulair) and still am...

High Pitch Noise Completely Stops with Jaw Movement

I noticed that my high pitched screeching noise COMPLETELY goes away when I press my tragus against my ear canal and move my jaw to the right. What could this mean?

What Are the Chances of Untreated Sinus-Induced Tinnitus Going Away?

So my tests came back yesterday and turns out my allergic rhinitis/sinusitis are most likely the cause of my mild ringing. So if my tinnitus is indeed due to those conditions does that mean that it should go away once my sinus problems are treated? I've read that sinus related tinnitus clears...

Starting to Think My Tinnitus Wasn't Really Caused by My Earbuds...

Dislaimer: English is not my native language. I'm 16 and the feeling of guilt is something that I've struggled a lot with alongside the feeling of disappointment for knowing that metal concerts wouldn't be amongst my plans any time soon. But lately I've been considering that MAYBE it wasn't an...

No, my tinnitus doesn't 'react'. I sometimes get brief spikes that go away after 5 seconds, I think this is called fleeting tinnitus. Thank you for your kind words. :)

I'm Devastated, Please Someone Understand Me

Hey. I'm 16. I got tinnitus on August 12th. It has been an actual roller coaster of emotions. I was doing a lot better but today something broke my heart. Today I woke up with no hyperacusis so I wasn't wearing my earplugs to school. Everything was fine. Not too noisy. Not uncomfortable...

Loud Tone for a Few Seconds — Fleeting / Transient Spontaneous Tinnitus

My tinnitus is quite mild and relatively easy to ignore but sometimes I get these HUGE spikes that last around 6 seconds, my heart stops everytime, and I can't breathe until it's finally gone. I don't want it to stay that way one day!! Also, I don't get them after any specific activity, I could...

Small Garage Band Outdoor Concert at Pub — How Big Is the Risk of Tinnitus Worsening?

Not a native English speaker, so I apologize in advance. I'm 16 and I got mild tinnitus and hyperacusis three days ago from using my earbuds a lot. It particularly bothers me when I go to bed. My boyfriend wants me to go with him to two outdoor concerts next month. I was wondering how big...
