Hello, I am in the same boat. I am taking Mysoline for my Palatal Myoclonus and it does decrease it, however, it doesn't stop it. I am going absolutely insane that this is going to be a permanent condition. I cannot live with this.

Yeah, unless they gave you earplugs, you didn't have proper protection as those headphones are very thin and don't protect from anything. I was also wearing them and apparently that didn't stop the tinnitus from appearing. What is the function of the water pump on an MRI?

This post hit me so hard. I also want to be a musician, and now thanks to medical negligence and noise induced tinnitus I can't... I feel for you and hope you will get better.

I'm so sorry about this. All the doctors and ENTs I talked to said it couldn't have happened because of the MRI machine... I am so livid. And yes I will stick around this website for sure, and I will of course help you with the complaint.

Ok, so the tinnitus is back again today, after two days of abscense. I expected it migh come back, but at least i know now its not impossible for it to stop. So that gives me hope. I thought it would never stop.

Did the MRI cause your tinnitus to spike?

I knew I shouldn't have gone, my doctor said she wouldn't treat my palatal myoclonus without going to an MRI. So I had to go, but I knew in my gut it would be a disaster.

Good for you. My MRI completely destroyed my hearing.

Yes the MRI scan I had in December caused a return of my tinnitus. So be careful, wear ear plugs beneath the earphones.

Sorry about the tinnitus, @Pali. I also have the low pitch variety and I can attest it is very difficult to tolerate it. I have had high pitched sounds before (they went away) but the low ones make my entire head vibrate essentially and I can't take it. Are you better now?

I'm taking it right now and it has no effect on my sleep. I talked to my audiologist today and she said she is certain the tinnitus can't stay permanently.

So it's definately better now, but the tinnitus is fading much slower than the first time i had it. So I'm going to try Piracetam. Has anyone had good results with it?

Aaand the low humming is back. Lord help me. :cry: I can't take this again. Do you think it will be permanent? I was at the audiologist and she gave me an audiometry test and my hearing came back perfect. But the flipping low humming will be the death of me.

Called the hospital that I had the MRI in today to try and ask them if they DO use the so called Quiet Suite feature. :) They were extremely rude and told me "No, and quit wasting my time!" and hung up on me. Of course they denied that the MRI scan could have fucked my ears up.

My ears are finally back to normal. The low rumbling tinnitus is almost gone. But it was quite scary for a couple of days. I can't believe they set me back by so much with one freaking scan.

It doesn't stop, ever. It didn't when I got it from Zyprexa and it doesn't now.

I wanted to ask you @NimQ, how was there zero notably loud sequences of sound? I had an MRI scan with the Magnetom Skyra and it was incredibly loud compared to what you are describing.

Yep. They didn't want to give me prednisone in any of the pharmacies I went to.

I'm sorry you got it from the damn MRI. I didn't have problems coming out of the scan. When I came home I was surprised that I didnt have a spike in any sounds but I did notice a sharp pain in both of my ears and thats not a good thing.

I will try to buy prednisone tomorrow. Thank you.

Thanks for the response. But who will prescribe the prednisone? And how much do I need to take? I also know about prednisone and it preventing hearing damage, but I'm not sure I can buy it without a prescription. I'm sorry about your MRI experience, do you remember the name of the machine?

I don't have ear fullness, and I don't experience hearing loss when I listen to music. What DOES bother me a lot is that I have pain in both ears like pins stabbing the eardrum. That can't be good. Seems like I'm going to the ENT next week.

The one they gave me, their "noise cancelling earmuffs". I can't say the sound was louder than a nightclub, but it was... louder than i would have liked it to be. I didn't get pain or anything during the scan itself.

I used Nasonex for a month and the low-pitched tinnitus gradually disappeared.

None of that came back, i just got palatal myoclonus, which completely reversed any progress I made with the tinnitus.

@Gman I will keep this in mind, I have used Nasonex for a month last year, and no real issues. But I will have that in mind for the future. Thanks.

I got palatal myoclonus this April. Then a hellish series of doctors appointments ensued, where almost no one knew what to do, or what to prescribe me. I was on Clonazepam, Baclofen, Carbamazepine, Oxcarbazepine, Sodium Valproate and nothing was helping at all. I was getting very desperate...

So I have to take Haloperidol along with Tizanidine for palatal myoclonus. But having past experiences with antipsychotics, I'm afraid to take the Haldol (active ingredient Haloperidol). Has anyone here taken Haloperidol, and does it cause spike in your tinnitus? Thank you. :)
