Drive in Car on Freeway — Tinnitus Spike

I know what you are saying. I've been through 3 days of hell with my tinnitus, but today it's back in its box... being a Saturday my partner would like me to drive into the garden shop with her... but I'm not risking another flare up, so I won't be going anywhere. These are the kinds of...

What Conditions Can Cause Ear Pain Associated with Tinnitus?

The crazy thing is that after 3 days of terrible tinnitus tonight I fell to sleep on the lounge into a deep sleep. When I woke up my tinnitus is back to a low level and there is no pain. It feels sooooo nice to have low tinnitus level... you always forget just how horrible it is to be...

Drive in Car on Freeway — Tinnitus Spike

Driving spikes my tinnitus too, some days more than others... it often only takes a few minutes of driving and yes I think it's from the low frequency vibrations because earplugs don't seem to help a lot.

What Conditions Can Cause Ear Pain Associated with Tinnitus?

Yeah and the weird thing is the pain seems to be positional... sitting makes it worse, laying down helps. This pain happened about 6 months ago... I went to a doctor and he said Otitis Externa and gave me a prescription for some drops (can't recall what they where)... They helped with the pain...

What Conditions Can Cause Ear Pain Associated with Tinnitus?

Well that's going to take some time... I would need to get back in to my GP and then ask for a referral to an ENT... my GP yesterday said he could not see any inflammation in the ear and said the next thing would be a psychologist to deal with the sound. I can get into seeing a hearing...

What Conditions Can Cause Ear Pain Associated with Tinnitus?

My tinnitus has been pretty good recently until a couple of days ago when I woke up with very loud tinnitus and pain in both ears. It hasn't let up since. I just came home from the doctor and had hoped to get some drops for the pain. Another doctor gave me some drops last time I had this pain...

Earplugs in the Shower (the Occlusion Effect): Don't Do It!

Shower is a trigger for me. I use wax earplugs, without them I'm in for a major spike everytime.

Does Your Tinnitus React to Some Electronics?

Although not really electronic (it's electric) ... a hair dryer for sure .. I have industrial ear muffs that I always wear if I need to dry my hair after a late shower .... but even then my tinnitus spikes so I try to avoid using it at all ... if I do it's for the shortest time possible ... i...

    How Loud Is Your Tinnitus?

Yeah it's true when it's a good day or a couple of good days you tend to think it's permanent. I found that really hard in the beginning. On the other hand when its bad you at least have the hope of a good day in the future. And yes it can rule your life, avoiding triggers.

    How Loud Is Your Tinnitus?

When I first wake up in the morning is the first indication of how loud it will be for the day. Sometimes I will wake up to very loud Tinnitus, nothing can really mask it, it cuts into my mind and sometimes I even get pain in my ears as if its a physical thing. Other days I can wake up and...

    Burning Ear Pain

I get reactive Tinnitus too .. I can go from level 1 to level 7 .. when its really bad I get pain in my ears too. I went to the Dr and he said I had otitis externa ... and prescribed some drops. They seem to help with the acute pain but it keeps coming back. Strangely it seems to be...

Tinnitus So Loud After Naps — Why?

Yep me too .. it's at the point where if I feel myself drifting off watching a boring TV show I try to make sure I don't sleep because every single time I wake up with a big tinnitus spike and it will then run atleast until a full nights sleep. It only takes 15 minutes of a nap to start it...

    Mapping Awareness (Google Trends)

I heard some claims that tinnitus is increasing significantly among the population. Is this true? I checked Google Search Term Analytics and there certainly does seem to be an increase in people searching for tinnitus, up about 50% in 5 years. Compared to "headaches" which is up 25% as a...

Tinnitus Gone After Being on Vacation for a Week

Yeah I agree about Vit D comments, I am on D supplements currently as my D is low (hasn't helped yet, my T has been hell lately). Be interesting to see if your T stays low now you are home.. I also went away for a week soon after my T started up really badly and mine went away too .. it...

Why Does Sleep Start and Stop Tinnitus?

I guess no one really knows the answer but I read many reports about tinnitus either stopping after sleep or starting after sleep. Like with mine I can wake up at 6am and it's screaming, go back to sleep and at 9am and its quiet again. It's like a cycle it runs through and it depends on what...

Should You Wear Earplugs When Driving a Car?

Problem with mine is it dosn't go back down once it kicks off. It might lose the edge and drop back 10-20% but once it's triggered it is normally at least one sleep cycle to reduce it significantly.

Should You Wear Earplugs When Driving a Car?

From OP "The decibel reader reported most times 75 dB " That level is expected from the interior of many cars, some cars might be louder, some quieter. I have a diesel Jeep and it runs around 80db. That is enough to start my T up ... I wear earplugs when I drive and that stops the spikes...

Regular Pattern in Tinnitus Symptoms — 2 Days Silence, 2 Days Noise, and the Cycle Repeats

Thanks for the responses. I wish we knew more about tinnitus and why it comes and goes like this. The fact that it goes away gives me hope because it means it can stop ... I'm just trying to work out how to make it stop permanently or atleast bring it back to the low level it has been at...

Regular Pattern in Tinnitus Symptoms — 2 Days Silence, 2 Days Noise, and the Cycle Repeats

I've noticed a pattern with my tinnitus. For me it's 2 days on and 2 days off. Does anyone else get this? During the off days I am still careful to avoid triggers which are showers without earplugs (earplugs help), driving my car (again earplugs help), standing in certain parts of the house...

Taking a Vitamin D Supplement Has Improved My Tinnitus Significantly

I just found that my Vitamin D is very low too. I had to convince my Dr to give me the blood test. I was deficient years ago too. I am really hoping this might be the reason for the significant worsening of my tinnitus over the last few months. I'm now taking supplements. It's going...

    Post Your Favorite Songs

Another Audioslave fan here. It's dark but personally I find that the best way to express my own thoughts and feel better. Interestingly in Audioslave's - "Show me How to Live" there is a line "To put my mind to bed, this ringing in my head" And here is one of my own, blues instrumental...

Do You Have Tinnitus AND Clogged Ears?

Have you had the machine test your eustachian tubes ? It's a device they stick in your ear canal and it blows air in and measures the pressure. One of mine feels blocked on and off and I thought it would be wax or blocked eustachian tube but it turned out to be neither.

    Tinnitus Worse After Shower

Just wanted to add my experience. Showers make mine louder, much louder from 2 to 6-7. It can take hours, even days for it to calm down again. I found that using earplugs stops that from happening.

What Causes Tinnitus — Conference Attendees' Responses

I did have a CT head scan a few years ago related to dizziness (that turned out to be from a herbal supplement my naturopath gave me - I have IBD). Yes I have had GERD also but not that I have noticed recently and I am not on any drugs for it. My Dr recently did a thyroid blood test and...

What Causes Tinnitus — Conference Attendees' Responses

I'm not sure what caused my tinnitus but I know what makes it much worse - EMR (electromagnetic radiation) or EF (electric fields). I have proven this over and over. For example if I forget to move away from the microwave oven when it is on it increases very quickly to a high level. At...

Tinnitus Started Recently — I Need to Know How Others Are Living with This?

Make sure you convey to your Dr the impact that it's having on you. Even when mine is really bad I can cope better now than a few months ago when it started getting really bad. You have treatment options like hearing aids, therapy and drugs. My boss had it really bad too years ago and she...

Tinnitus Started Recently — I Need to Know How Others Are Living with This?

Hi Lena. I'm from Melbourne area (Australia) too. I noticed your tinnitus also goes up and down like mine. Have you correlated that change with anything ? I'm convinced mine is from EMR ... it sounds crazy like tin foil hat stuff but that is what I have found. Even this laptop is...

Tinnitus Is Worse in Specific Areas of the House

I have this issue. It started in our bedroom. It's not like I notice my tinnitus more in that room, its that it gets worse in there .. much much worse until its screaming. So I don't sleep in there anymore, I sleep on a mattress in the lounge room. I was also getting a prickly feeling...
