Hi Lucifer, yes I had exactly what you just described. I had permanent pain in my left that would get worse after any kind of loud exposure. Gabapentin somehow reduced all these symptoms and I can say that I am now 99% hyperacusis and noxacusis free.

Mirtazapine can damage the optic nerve, so if you intend to use it long term it might be a good idea to get your eyes checked for Glaucoma.

How Is Your High Frequency Hearing?

I am pretty much deaf after 8500 Hz. I am 45 and have a long history of hearing damage through music and various other incidents.

Why Can't Audiometers Produce the Whole Hearing Frequency Range/Tones?

I finally did my Acouphenometrie HD or whatever it is called and as expected I have some serious hearing loss from 8 kHz onwards. They recommended hearing aids but so far I can't say that they have improved my tinnitus at all. Less than Lenire anyway. For those interested I am posting my hearing...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Honestly I can't advise you as we all seem to react differently to Lenire. All I can say is that right now I am feeling really good with the current settings. I am only using it once a day and it seems to do the trick.

    Gabapentin (Neurontin)

My hyperacusis has never been better. I have just had several days of no pain whatsoever, only a slight discomfort in my left ear when I wake up but it goes away very quickly. I believe it is because I normally sleep on my left ear which is the one with hyperacusis.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I used it for 12 weeks from December to February. The second settings kind of undid the progress I made while on the first settings. Then I got really sick and was exposed to noise while in Egypt, then COVID-19 restrictions prevented me from going to Ireland, etc... so I did not use Lenire again...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Hi Dave, To be clear, I did not use Lenire on Monday because I just wanted to head straight to bed after work and sleep the tinnitus off. I was not in the mood for 1 hour of Lenire, I was just too exhausted. I did not do a session on Tuesday either. But to be honest I am very perplexed by my...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

This morning my tinnitus is at the lowest it has ever been since my worsening in October 2018. The funny thing is I had a pretty bad day on Monday and I decided to skip my two Lenire sessions yesterday. Is there a relation? What is going on and how long is it going to last?

    Gabapentin (Neurontin)

I have a quasi permanent dull pain in and around my left ear. It sometimes radiates down my cheek. It is variable in intensity. It is never unbearable but it is bad enough to prevent me from ignoring it. It feels like there is always something wrong with my left ear. With gabapentin these...

Both. The pain is not gone but things are improving even though my left can still hurt completely randomly.

    Gabapentin (Neurontin)

My hyperacusis is better no doubt about it. There are still times where it comes out of nowhere without any kind of reason (no loud noise exposure) but overall I am definitely feeling better. I take 200 mg per day.

    Agnostics “R” Us...

I am interested in ancient history (see my avatar ;))and this is why I have read most books from Bart Ehrman since he is one of the world expert about the subject and his writings about early Christiany are really fascinating. IMHO Michael F. Bird is definitely not in the same league academically.

    Agnostics “R” Us...

I agree, Bart D. Ehrman is great. All his books are fantastic for anyone interested in Christianity from a historical perspective. His podcast with Sam Harris was also very interesting.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Honestly it is hard to say as everyone seems to react differently to Lenire. All I can say is when I've had moderate spikes over the last 6 months, using Lenire seemed to reset my tinnitus to its normal level. But I doubt I would have tried it if the spike had been intense.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Here is my latest hearing test. I would add that I don't seem to hear much above 9kHz. Remember I have had 3 acoustic traumas (as well as too many nights spent in Berghain) so my ears are pretty messed up. I have mild hyperacusis/noxacusis in my left ear. Like a dull pain that never really goes...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

It seems that we are going through the exact same thing. My tinnitus is also fluctuating wildly but with moments where it is very very low. Well, to be honest I don't really know. It seems like I have a variety of sounds, but I am pretty sure they are all in the high frequencies. I don't remember Neuromod checking where exactly my tinnitus was. I am actually scheduled to do a HD "acouphénometrie" in Paris in July where they will...

Significant improvement of my tinnitus in just 5 days. It's been two days in a row where it is hardly noticeable when I am outside. So glad I am back on the first settings. Let's see how things evolve.

    Suicidal

I've had tinnitus for 28 years (with extreme worsening 2 years ago) and nothing has ever improved it. Lenire has been the only treatment to have a positive impact. So to call it a scam is a bit excessive.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

It has reduced greatly but it has not gone 100%. It worked quite well with the first settings. My tinnitus improved no doubt. But the second settings did nothing for me so I am glad that I can now start again with the first settings.

I had my 3rd review online with Neuromod on Tuesday. They organised for a courier (at their expense) to collect my device (which arrived in Ireland in 24 hours) and it is already on the way back to me. Quite impressed with their customer service on this one.

    Tinnitus Retraining Therapy

So true. I get a lot more sympathy when I mention that I suffer from cluster headaches than when I mention my tinnitus. But if I had to choose, I would keep the headaches rather than tinnitus , that's how bad this condition can be!
