I actually have no idea :( but the hearing test I just had a week ago made things so much worse. They did an OAE test on me and it was extremely loud and uncomfortable to my ears. I’m now certain I may have damage in the high frequencies but I’m not entirely sure :/

I have coldness and numbness all over my body and ears the day after a hearing test with an OAE. I’m so miserable.

I have echo hearing as of right now and audio especially sounds distorted it’s very scary :( my ears were so full last night I couldn’t hear very well and the constant popping hurt my ears and left them sore.

I’m so happy to hear that :) things will definitely improve with time. The brain is complex as heck but it will slowly but surely get better and things will start to look up! Wishing you the best.

Everything sounds slightly quieter and a bit muffled... I’m assuming this can be normal with ear fullness as well right? My fullness just feels like a foggy feeling in my ears.

My blocked feeling actually came back! Does it feel tight and almost like you aren’t hearing out of it although you can?

Distorted how? I also have distortions in hearing and dull hearing as well.

It really depends. One time I had a “tight squeeze” feeling for about 5 days. Once it went away I was left with decreased sound but I am associating it with ETD as I’m sure air gets stuck.

Things went back to normal for you though so that’s good :)

Even though you could hear, were certain constants kind of weird because of how flat everything was since the vibrations weren’t being felt? For example when my mom says LIFE I hear the L but it isn’t felt so it sounds a bit flat!

Same boat! My ears popped terribly while on high elevation and now my ears are in tremendous pain plus having a bit of clarity problems. Hoping it clears up in a few weeks.

Did you also have soft hearing? My ear feels really stuffy and it makes sounds not clear or felt.

Hi! Not sure if you still check this but did the block feeling make you feel like you weren’t hearing out of the ear although if you cover your good ear you can hear? I’ve been having this as well.

It’s like a weird numb feeling right? It’s super weird because my hearing is almost blunt now, it’s all just flat because the vibrations aren’t being felt. Thanks so much for responding! It gives me hope. The fullness is gone now luckily, just have this weird numb hearing sensation.

I got hyperacusis and tinnitus after a TBI (head trauma) so I second this.

I got tinnitus after a TBI as well! Concussion, but since then it’s given me hearing problems as well although my hearing is fine on the audiogram. Ears are weird, but I agree this is all connected to my injury because I didn’t have any problems before then.

Is this normal and can it get better? I haven’t seen anyone on this forum with similar issues :/

I can hear but I can’t “feel” the vibrations entering my eardrum if that makes sense? It makes everything sound flat or “numb”.

This is going to sound super weird but did it cause you to “hear” numb as well? Usually with inner ear numbness it feels like the eardrum goes numb and so sound going through your ear isn’t felt.

Have you checked for TMJ? I know you said you have a bright guard, my tinnitus gets louder when I yawn or burp... could be muscle tension?

Did the fullness go down for you and then you still felt like you couldn’t feel sound? My fullness went down however I feel like there’s still something “blocking” my ears from having vibrations come in although I hear fine now :( Any thoughts?

Thanks so much and yes I have, they haven’t found anything unfortunately. I’m hoping this is just something that goes away with time. It’s been 3 days since it got worse and I’m now on a 2 week course of prednisone. Hoping this helps.

I’ve had muffled hearing for 2 months and sometimes it fluctuates in volume is there any chance this will resolve? I’ve had trouble understanding people because of how muffled it is. :(
