My Dream Is to Get a Motorcycle License — Can Driving a Motorcycle Make Tinnitus Worse?

You want to wear a full helmet with a wind skirt. One of the best helmets out there and one of the best in reducing noise and wind is Shoei. They're expensive but worth it IMHO.

    Meaning of Habituation?

It means you're not paying attention to it. You 'tune' it out.

Not Sure, It Might Be Getting Better

We're all due for a little relief from this every once in a while. I manage to get relief on the average of 2-3 times per week. It certainly makes the rest of the week more tolerable. Glad you're having a better day!

At the Ear House Clinic... Wish Me Luck

I'm curious to know what you think of the clinic? I'm in San Diego and would go if I thought it would benefit me in some way.

Feeling Blue — One Year Anniversary with Tinnitus

Christina, Your T may or may not get better but one thing I know, you will better adjust to it in time. I just 'celebrated' my 5 year anniversary with T and while I still have it, I am much better able to cope with it. It took me about a year but I managed to reclaim my life. I still hear it...

Feels Like I Am Going Insane

The average age for this is mid-50's although more & more younger people seem to be getting it. No surprise considering what we do to our ears nowadays. Hopefully your T will disappear, but if not chances are you'll get used to it and it won't seem as bothersome. I can almost assure you that.

    Scared and Panicked

Brian, what works for me is exercise. It doesn't lower my T, but it does help me better cope with it. I'd be interested in hearing how acupuncture works for you.

I've Had Tinnitus Since I Was 18, I'm 25 and I Feel Like Giving Up...

Hi Carlos, I'm writing to you from your neighbor down south in San Diego. I've never been to it but heard good things about House Clinic. They have multiple locations in and around Los Angeles. I have a friend who drives up there just to see them. This is their website: www.houseclinic.com I'm...

    Crickets

Agreed! I'm listening to the sound of crickets as I'm writing this. I use a Sound Oasis sound machine. It's the closest I found to help mask my T.

Sudden Huge Spike Out of Nowhere in Left Ear

You're not alone with this condition. I've also had it for five years and while I have it in both ears, only my left side is bad. Let me rephrase that; my left side is really bad. There's probably nothing I can tell you that you don't already know other than I hope your left side calms down soon!

You may have a complex tone rather than a pure tone.

    Ranting Again...

Sorry you're having a rough time. I've been there thinking that the constant noise would never end but then out of the blue I have a better day. That's all it takes is one better day for me to feel better. I hope the same happens for you!

Hello All. Recently Diagnosed with Tinnitus.

I've been where you are now and sometimes feel like I'm still there even after 4 years of this. You use the word cope, I use the word accept. When you accept, you learn to cope.

Does Someone Here Use a Masker?

Chelles, depends on the type of masker you're looking for. Is it to be stationary or something you wear. I have both. I use a sound machine with a pillow speaker for sleep but also have a Widex with Zen hearing aid. If it wasn't for the fact that I got the hearing aid for free (insurance) I...
