  • Hello to all so glad I found this site. I got T from scuba diving 15years ago. It has been a up and down emotional journey. You start to feel alone out there thank goodness for sites like this that prove you are not by yourself.

Welcome friend, It`s one hell of a rollercoaster this T... you made it this far man, 15 years is long... but they are past now and we are looking for a brighter future with all these new technologies and scientific discoveries ... it`s going faster and faster and the cure might be something simple noone ever thought about or had the chance to discover ... like so many times ... keep coming to the site ... it has helped me a great deal!

peace

It's amazing how much sites like this helps and gives us hope!! I can't even imagine how depressed I would be if I hadn't had support and information from this site! Also I love here that I can see in "research news" that somebody is really working on cure/treatment! :) It gives us so much hope. Glad you find this site too, welcome!

This Site is amazing!!!!!
Yes, there is a lot of research... sometimes I dream, if everyone who has some hearing problems would donate 1 $,
we could finance a lot more of research... A global fundraising-site would be cool... then support the researchers from Massachussets/Stanford and HRP ...

I have also thought about that donating thing.. If everyone on this site would donate regularly a small amout money, that would help a lot. I think that everybody should donate to the same organisation to make any difference..?

yeah if everyone who had T did donate a dollar it would be millions... The government should like make a public announcement saying if you have tinnis and want a cure then please donate a dollar today.. Its just that even people with T out there dont seem to care if it doesnt effect them that much.

I really try to think different ways how this could be possible because this site has already so many T-people who could donate. It's only that we should all donate to the same organisation because if we all donate to random organisations, then the biggest benefit wouldn't be possible..

I really would like to donate a small amount of money like monthly but the only thing is I don't know where I should donate it! I want that they actually do some researching with that money...

Yeah exactly.. Same here.. I would trust donating the money to steve or marku and then they can decide which organization to donate too

I also though that :D I thought if there would be something that everyone who wants could donate to steve or markku and then end of the month that amount of money would be donated to some organisation and then they could tell in this forum how much money we collected.. I just don't now how realistic this would be

I already donate to the Hearing Health Foundation, I've given money to the great folks on this site (woo Lifetime Benefactor!) and I will continue giving money. Hopefully I'm not the only one :)

I also donated to ActiononHeringloss uk, to Massachussets Eye and Ear and to the Stanford Initiative.
But why shouldn't we collect here with a counter online and every 30'ooo Dollars we would give the money to a innovative researcher group?
If we would donate to i.e. the Stanford Initiative, they could blog about this forum and the collection.....
Would be a motivating idea? Or is it just unrealistic?

There are two kinds of research: pure and applied. Your best bet at the moment is what the folks at Auris Medical are developing/doing. And they don't need funding. The others are just armchair academics residing in offices where the drugs cabinet was accidentially left open. Waste of money.

I gave a little to this web site. It's this web site that's informative, supportive, and interactive. Also as I understand it a small portion does go to research. You can donate one time if you like. It's the web-site people like.

Got to agree with @attheedgeofscience, some academic with a grant and he's driving a new car. It's probably a waste of money, doesn't do us any good - here. It's just not always fruitful, I mean nothing productive happens.
