Oh I was sad to read your post.
From what I know the fact that an infection has caused your tinnitus is a very positive sign it will go, it will just take time.
My son who is 9 had lots of ear infections and used to get bouts of tinnitus which cleared up.
Your GP is right and I dont think he is saying what he thinks you want to hear.
I developed tinnitus a few weeks ago now after I had a baby and you just want to be able to click your fingers and it be gone!
Try to stay positive, this Noise will fade into the background and you will look back on this as 'just a moment in time' in your life where you had tinnitus and it went.
