2024 US Presidential Election

It's not a conflict; it's a military invasion!

Imagine this: What would you do if a gang of Venezuelans invaded your home, killing and assaulting your loved ones?

Now consider this: What if a friend from another part of town offered you the means to fight back? Would you take it? Or would you negotiate, offering the invaders part of your house in exchange for a promise to behave—for now?

If you understand the metaphor, give this a like.
We are adults; we do not need metaphors.

I did not ask whether Ukraine has the right to fight Russian occupation or refuse to negotiate. What I want to know is whether it was right for Biden to forbid Ukraine from attending negotiations with Russia—whether they wanted to or not—under the implied threat of losing support if they agreed to negotiate.

Zelensky has stated that he wants the war to end "next year," potentially when Trump is in office, through diplomacy. "We have to understand what the Russians want," Zelensky said.

Biden has permitted Ukraine to fire US-made long-range missiles deep into Russia. This is a sign that Biden has totally lost his mind. Hopefully, Trump has advised Zelensky to ignore this lunatic and wait until he (Trump) is in office.
Umm... no. Just so you know, permission has been given to only use the weapons against Russian and North Korean (a match made in heaven!) orcs in the Kursk region, which Ukraine has occupied. Remember the incursion early this year? Any other targets still need Biden's approval, like the carpet bombing Moscow example. This isn't a blanket removal of restrictions.

Regardless, Biden should have allowed deep strikes a long time ago when it could've had a greater impact. Too little, too late.

Man, as much as I liked Biden's foreign policy early on, he ended up being a major disappointment and a lousy commander-in-chief. He played a key role in calling out Russia before the war and making sure Ukraine got the support it needed. But after the offensive, he really stalled out. Constantly keeping Ukraine on a tight leash to avoid upsetting Russia, he held back other allies from stepping up their support and never laid out a clear plan to have Ukraine push Russia out. Instead, he's been slowly sending weapons just meant to keep the status quo going, which favors Russia.

What a disappointment. Obama was weak on Russia, too, and Trump... well, we know he loves Putin. Honestly I hate to say it, but I wish Romney was president in 2012. He would have taken care of Russia long ago and everyone would be better off for it.

Now Putin's underling, Trump, is going to abandon Ukraine.

When has Biden stated that he won't allow Ukraine to engage in peace conversations?
Good call! Biden has not said that he would not allow Ukraine to engage in peace negotiations. I was under the impression that he had.

In any case, this is nearing three years, and as of September 30, 2024, the U.S. had given Ukraine nearly 183 billion dollars. Zelensky and his entourage in Ukraine have made their killing in stolen funds, embezzling over 400 million dollars in aid, according to investigative journalist Seymour Hersh.

Hopefully, when Trump is in office, he will help end the bloodshed, and Ukraine can start rebuilding, with the help of other nations.

Why is brain-dead Biden escalating the Ukraine/Russia war when Trump wants to end the war when he takes over on January 21st? I heard that Sweden and Finland are preparing for Nuclear war. I hope Trump is talking to both Zelenskyy and Putin about his concerns and those of the sane U.S. citizens.

No they haven't, and your likely source doesn't claim that either. Most of these funds have merely been appropriated (govspeak for "earmarked") and not yet spent, while most of the remainder has been donated in the form of weapons: meaning that the money went to the US defense industry and not to the Ukraine.

This accusation has already been debunked by Snopes.

Yeah, right. There's an interesting article in the New York Times about Trump's designated role. Loosely paraphrased: Putin did not want Trump in the White House as a Russian mole, he wants him there because he hopes that "a Trump presidency might bring about the collapse of the American state."

Putin is a realist as far as that goes, I'm afraid.

I read the Snopes article. Hersch does not name his source for his Zelensky accusations, and that is because he can't. I do not know whether the charges are true, but Hersch has a better-than-average reputation and may be correct.

There were little to no acts of aggression by Putin during Trump's presidency, unlike the previous and later administrations. Most Democrats have given up on the idea that he is a "friend" of Putin. Trump said that he told Putin that if he attacked Ukraine, he'd bomb Moscow. Once Putin saw the results of the Afghanistan withdrawal by Biden, he knew he could attack Ukraine. Biden's economic sanctions were supposed to end the invasion in a few weeks. Not only did that not work, but the conflict has lasted nearly three years with no negotiations or end in sight under the Democrats.

Update, Breaking News: Biden has approved antipersonnel mines for Ukraine, undoing his own policy. Washington Post, 11/20/2024. Despite all the help from NATO countries, Ukraine is losing.

It's crazy how desperate Putin is with trying to recapture Kursk. He's just throwing waves of mindless orcs at it like cannon fodder. Trying to make gains at all costs.

It's obvious why he's desperate, though; he needs to take back Kursk before Trump takes office again because if Trump comes in and tries to force a ceasefire down everyone's throat, it'll be super embarrassing for Putin to reject it. There's no way he can agree to a ceasefire while even an inch of Russian territory is still under Ukrainian control.

Amazing. Russian propaganda and their troll farms really got people thinking the US is just writing out checks to Ukraine…

I mean, you almost have to respect Russia here. Who would have guessed the most effective warfare strategy is to put 4000+ guys on minimum wage into an opinion/troll factory, making shit posts all across social media to wreak havoc on the US and its gullible citizens. Now, throw Trump into the equation, and Putin might just walk away with everything he's been after.
