5-HTP for Tinnitus & Hyperacusis?

I take 50mg, it's been two weeks now.
I feel bit better but t is here to definitely ruin my life.
I was hoping that feeling better will mean quieter tinnitus!
Not really:(

I was taking 100 MG a day, but I didn't take today, seems like everything is making my tinnitus go crazy. I don't know if it's I'm so scared something is going to make it worse and then the stress and worry jacks it up or what... so not taking it for now....may try again, I have prozac but afraid to take it too.

I took 5-HTP and it helped with sleep and mood.

Purchase from a reputable supplier and do not under any circumstances combine this supplements with antidepressants or other psych meds.

I tried this stuff. I was about a week in and then noticed a spike. It seems like anything I do affects my serotonin and causes a spike. Anybody else experienced that with this 5-HTP?

I want to try 5-HTP to help with my depression anxiety and sleep.

If it raises serotonin levels like an SSRI, is there a chance it will affect my tinnitus negatively?

Would I be better off with using L-tryptophan or a GABA supplement?

Did anyone had positive effects with the use of any of these supplements for depression anxiety and sleep?

For some reason 5htp, tryptophan, St Jon Worth, Safran, ... and anything that increases serotonin make me very depressed and sad, anyone? I always have to take things that increase dopamine at the same time. I tested melatonine again and now it seems to benefit me if I don't take too much.

I have taken 5-HTP for almost 9 months and most of the the time my dosage has been 100 mg although I take half of that sometimes. I must admit that 50 mg is not enough and if someone wants to have benefits, higher dose is necessary.

It's like a natural antidepressant and it's very good for the mood and anxiety.

Also if someone wants to feel the effects of 5-HTP it needs to be taken for a period of at least 1 month. If you feel any effects in 2 weeks then that's just a placebo.

Suffered from chronic anxiety for years. Been on most of the meds. This by far has helped me cope the best. I've only just developed what I assume is tinnitus, had a concussion about three weeks back. Doc thinks it's caused by a neck spasm. I'm sure 5-HTP will help with sleep, it's proven that in the past. Not sure if it will help with the general symptoms I have or not.
