I went to court today and won a Pyrrhic victory against the scumbag tenants that wrecked my flat.
I got a County Court Judgement for thousands, but will never recoup one penny from them.

I have always supported charities as far as I can, and will continue with my direct debits.

However, now that I am attempting to repay a considerable loan, any future fundraisers may need to cry into their lobster Thermidors, as I chomp on my poverty stricken cheese burgers.

I had to look up what a Pyrrhic victory was, Dave...

"A Pyrrhic victory (/ˈpɪrɪk/ ( listen) PIRR-ik) is a victory that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Someone who wins a Pyrrhic victory has also taken a heavy toll that negates any true sense of achievement."

What victory? :dunno: So much for the legal system.

I am so sorry that you are dealing with all of this.:huganimation:

Great news! I'm sorry you may never be able to collect, but maybe they can take money from their paychecks?

I'll donate to charities on your behalf in the meantime @Jazzer, you'll just have to owe me a couple of drinks if I am ever in your neck of the woods. :beeranimation:

Edit: I didn't realize what Pyrrhic meant until looking it up. I'm sorry that you had to go through such a burden to win. Stay Strong!

In future, please don't use fancy European English words so us Americans can understand! We're a little slow over here if you haven't heard. ;)

@emmalee & @Jack Straw
- somebody has to take responsibility for you guys further education eh?
At least, you'll remember it now.

I never treated this young couple with less than kindness by the way.
They are alcoholic and taking drugs, with three little girls, and she is pregnant again.
I think the word is dysfunctional parents.
I have alerted social security, but can do no more.

However - it's all water under the
proverbial - - - - - - .

And, of course, if I can survive severe Tinnitus,
I can sure survive this.

It will do nothing to disturb my meditation,
which renders pretty well any scenario manageable.

Thank you folks for your kind thoughts.
I really appreciate it.
Love

I often think that America gave the world
McDonald's, whereas England donated vocabulary.
I'll let you lot off though because your greatest contribution to the arts was Jazz - and the God of all jazz - one Louis Armstrong, who took what was essentially a folk music forward, to become an amazing art form:
Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Art Tatum, Charlie Parker, etc.....
(But I digress.)

Yes mate - two drinks I owe you, for definite.
....er.....they may need to be single shots,
but I'll throw in a bag of chips, or peanuts.
(.....one or the other....not both mind you.)
...........generous to a fault.

Your a lovely warm hearted person and have a lovely wife and family and I know you will get through this together... as to their future who knows.

Sending you lots of hugs.

It's extremely frustrating to know that these vermin essentially get away with it. A Pyrrhic victory indeed.

This angers me so much when I read stories like these. I highly doubt you will see a penny especially the way the law system is in regards to issues like this. I'm sorry Dave. Also like @emmalee I had to lookup the word "pyrrhic" I have heard this word a few times but never actually knew what it meant. That's my word for today so thanks for adding to my ever expanding vocabulary.

I must admit - I thought that word would get everyone going - I'm a wicked bastard @Jcb
- but you knew they....x

I admit in addition to Pyrrhic I also had to look up Thermidors as well. This shocking to me because, well I used to be an English major!! We studied mainly UK literature on top of that!

You need to take it easy on us American folk as our vocabulary are not exactly scholar level. ;)

I hope your situation gets resolved soon, my friend. :beeranimation:
