Acoustic Trauma from Car Speakers Resulting in Hyperacusis, Tinnitus and Ear Fullness

That's not surprising, most hyperacusis improves over the first few months.
Very mild hyperacusis can improve over a few months. True hyperacusis can potentially improve between 1-3 years, seems to be closer to 2-3.

I would wait to start TRT. You can have natural improvement in 6 months. TRT CAN and has made people worse.

Ok so my hyperacusis is pain hyperacusis, but it is noise induced from acoustic trauma... I was playing extremely loud music in my car after a stressful event. It's been 2 weeks with little to no improvement. I heard that the people with trauma related causes have the best chance of recovery compared to unknown causes.

Pink noise is very soothing for me (right now only for about 20 mins before its irritating)

Taking a look at this study, it seems very promising that someone with hyperacusis from noise induced trauma would make great recovery over a 6 month period.

I'm going to contact someone locally near me to get me on sound therapy tomorrow.

Any positive thoughts on this? Please avoid any comments that will raise anxiety levels.
Honestly man, if I were you, I'd go to a neurologist, explain that Benzos help your pain and ask them what drugs you can take long term that could help you based on that fact.

How are you feeling today? I have seen some of your posts and I feel your pain as someone who has unmaskable severe tinnitus and hyperacusis that is now moderate and slowly improving from a severe level.

I acquired tinnitus in exactly the same way.

Hope you feel better.
Thanks man, very small improvements since the onset but I'll take it!

Not so good bro, my ears, chin and face feels hot sometimes, it's nerve pain I guess, pretty mild though but scary... do you get this also?

I hear you, I had one of the worst setbacks 2 weeks ago. Very loud drill sound resonating like hell at a building site, forgot the plugs and couldn't escape because I was helping a colleague...

Now my tolerance is really reduced, will take years to improve...

Sorry to hear that... hopefully fx 322 can sort this all out

I'm sorry to hear that. I very rarely get ear or other pain from hyperacusis. My hyperacusis was basically everything sounded way to loud. My hyperacusis has improved about 80% over the last 18 month's or so since it struck me. There is hope, don't give up.

Love and respect Stu.
