Following up two months after my last update. Normally, I would have posted something sooner, but something completely unexpected hit me, knocking me to the ground. It is nothing like the acoustic trauma I have experienced. It is Visual Snow.
Looking it up here, I have noticed that some members are also dealing with this condition. A week after my last post, something strange started happening with my vision. It began to vibrate and flicker, with dots appearing throughout. Floaters also showed up, and looking away from light sources started causing afterimages. Patterns and text lines vibrate, making it hard to focus. Even watching movies has lost its joy because the screen constantly flickers. Patterns on the ground flicker, and even something as simple as my sandwich right in front of me flickers.
The past two months have been incredibly challenging. I feel like I have been out of order. While I am a little more stable now, I am still unsure how to cope with this. It feels like I have entered a different reality. I used to have crystal clear vision, and now everything has changed.
There seems to be a connection between tinnitus, hyperacusis, and Visual Snow. Many people with Visual Snow also have tinnitus and, in some cases, hyperacusis. However, not everyone with tinnitus and hyperacusis experiences Visual Snow.
I have no idea why this started for me. In many cases, it can be linked to extreme chronic stress, so maybe that applies here. Or perhaps the acoustic trauma damaged something beyond the auditory pathways. But if that is the case, why did I not develop Visual Snow immediately after the trauma? Why did it take three months to appear?
@marqualler, I remember reading one of your posts from 2015 where you mentioned dealing with Visual Snow. If you are willing, I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience or any advice.
