Piece of advice to hyperacusis sufferers.

If you have bad hyperacusis or T, please give the warning (multiple times) to your ENT to speak quietly before they begin speaking to you. They are likely accustomed to speaking like drill sergeants to people who are hard of hearing, but that is bad news for people who have T and H and ears of glass.

I told my ent I had T and H to quiet down a couple of times, only to sit through a jet engine cabin of that booming voice. Now more T, threshold shift, and really bad hyperacusis and a headache.

So there you go, be very careful when going to the ent office!

Ear muffs. At least it'll make things visible. We lack visibility of our condition, such that our problems are a (disinterested) mystery even to those we entrust and well reward to know and help.
