Has anyone notice a spike in perception of tinnitus after visiting a high altitude?

I noticed my tinnitus worsen as soon as I arrived in the mountains and even now that I'm home at sea level 5 days later, the volume and intensity are way up. It could be that the mountains were so peaceful and quiet ; I didn't have my usual stressful city life distractions (which I find extremely helpful). Just curious what others here think about altitude and tinnitus.

Could there be an increase in ear pressure or is it just psychological? Thanks.

So basically I live on a hill, and ear pressure changes when I go to Brisbane or the Gold Coast...

I was wondering will it change or affect my tinnitus?

My brother is moving and wants help with the move but I'm worried about the pressure changes...

Diving can cause tinnitus because of pressure changes but those pressure changes can be very strong. What you are describing are mild changes and won't do damage....

Yeah, it's only just until I go down the hill... but I am a little worried... I guess the anxiety would make it worse if anything.. but I have heard people getting tinnitus from pressure change. Although I did assume that this pressure change would be too minor.

I have posted about tinnitus and flying which has a lot to do with pressure changes and the change can be rapid during the takeoffs and landings. Even with that, many people including myself have been flying without tinnitus having adverse effect. I also mentioned Aaron who even posted about his world travel since after tinnitus. Check this post out. So your pressure change should be minor and gradual and shouldn't be an issue. Take good care. God bless.

In my case I live at 4100 feet above sea level. When I stay at the beach my intermittent tinnitus disappears. But when I drive back home my tinnitus problems come right back.

We have two residences, one in the Portland Oregon area which is almost at sea level, the other in Southern Utah at about 3,000 feet above sea level. I've noticed my tinnitus seems less intense at our Utah location. In general I am far more physically active and spend more time outdoors during our time in Utah.

Curious if there are studies on the impact of altitude on tinnitus or if it's lifestyle that may be causing this change?

Thank you.
