Honestly I think this one is getting the handling it deserves.we could have handled this post far more maturely.
After reading all these comments I think I'm much better off without this site and the people on it. I'll be making this journey myself. Good luck everyone.
Can we not be a bit more nice guys?
I sometimes wonder if the cosmic lesson from tinnitus is that no matter how much we're suffering, we should still do our best to be kinder to others than we feel we have the capacity for. And a little more patient, and gracious, and loving, and just about any other spiritual value we can think of. Tinnitus/hyperacusis however has made living these values far more difficult for me, but it's still my goal to live my life as gracefully as I can. -- Unfortunately, these days I way too often fall short of those goals.

Sensational title coupled with outrageous content is a deadly combination.
Especially when you realize it is people like this "leading ENT", whom are the reason nobody out there is taking tinnitus seriously.
Turns out it's just in our heads and a minor annoyance at best.
I actually thought you were being sarcastic about this, sorry if my post came off as mean. Who is the top ENT guy? I saw who I thought was the top ENT on Harley St. There might be a few contenders for the title. So, I've just come from Harley Street in London, having just had an appointment with the UK's and probably the world's leading ENT Doctor.
And he told me that tinnitus volume as long as there is no current infection is always at 20 dB and the perceived loudness is always related to emotional perception and stress towards it.
And given the right frame of mind everyone can habituate/return to silence/near silence.
