11/16, constant since 3/1/16
Cause of Tinnitus
Virus, Allergies, TMJ, Stress
My tinnitus primarily comes from the left side of my head, it's multiple tones and its fainter on the right side. Does anyone know about this? Can this be related more to circulation or posture? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Mine is usually stronger on one side than the other, and often responds to my posture. It tends to get worse when sitting or especially lying down. Sometimes it will switch ears for some reason.

Mine is exactly same as yours. In the brain, not the ears. It is strong in the left and multiple electrical sound inside of my head.

Yes, mine is this ultra high pitched buzzing mosly in my head. It does get louder if I plug my ears.
It's worse on the left side (that was the side facing my acoustic trauma).

Can I ask did anyone habituate to it? I'm in the process of getting an MRI done to rule things out.

In my right ear as an intermittent Morse code/ring - varying in intensity and made worse by lying down.
Also, faintly in my head as a gas leak sound, but weirdly slightly to the left of centre?!?!? In some ways, it is as much a sensation as a sound.

My tinnitus seems to be healing, but I've also habituated to hearing it. It only bothers me when it's accompanied by a sort of piercing, achey pain in my ears, and then it's the pain bothering me more than the noise.

Mine is only in my ears. It makes me feel extremely off-balance, and the left side of my face (including my mouth and the left half of my tongue) is ALWAYS slightly numb.

My tinnitus just got a lot louder today. Been trying to relax and sleep but no luck at all.

Now it sounds like it is inside my head. Right at the forehead.

It has never been this bad ever.

Sorry for posting so much but I am very, very depressed right now.

I just pray that I get back to last month's levels or the good lord decides to take me because I cannot live this way.

It's very common for tinnitus to move from ears to head. Don't worry about these things. You need to give it time. Don't analyze it all the time.

Easy for you to say. ;)

Just kidding of course. I am sure you know what I am going through.

How do you get to ssleep then> I just cannot relax.

Every night I take a bath with magnesium salts to try and relax me. Sometimes it's turns down the tinnitus a bit. I actually sleep plugging a finger in my ear as I sorta trick my brain into believing it's this loud because I'm plugging my ear. When I do t plug my ear and hear it so loud it really freaks me out! X

It is through my who;e head now. I don't know how much more I can stamd. Very piercing.

Have not slept in 3days. I am going to try the bath trick. I have a whirlpool bath. I will also take an Ambien but cant take one every night that is why none for 3 days

I hope it is better in the morning. :(

Mine is also in both my ears and my head. Left ear is a mid-range tone, pretty constant, but will vary slightly in pitch and volume. Right ear is much fainter, and only really there if I plug the ear to listen to it. In my head it is all electrical, like the power station that @Vicki14 described. That's the one that is most variable - on good days it has no specific location in the head and just sounds like background tinsel. On bad days it locates to a specific part of my head - worst when in the front - and can zip around various high frequencies. That's pretty hard to take when it happens, but luckily is pretty rare.

As I write all that, I wonder how I'm coping. And yet, things are usually not so bad. Thankfully, with some care, and appropriate use of plugs, I'm able to keep the volume of all three sources at something manageable. But it's always touch/go, because any one of the sounds can decide to have mind of its own.

I'm really curious about the original head/habituation question as well. My understanding is that the ears habituate relatively well over time. But the head... is less clear to me. Anyone who can provide insight, that'd be amazing.

@spinnaker

The bath trick really does work. I too take a bath every night before bed, and can usually bring the tinnitus volume down 1-to-2 notches for falling asleep.

As an extra trick, beyond just letting the bath relax you, try laying on your back and putting your ears underwater. If the water level is right, you can have your ears under, and your nose/mouth out. Lay there for a bit, and try to still your attention on the low frequency sound waves that exist under the water. And then lift your head out and listen above water. And then back down, and listen to the low frequency, and then back out...back and forth, maybe 10 times in 10 minutes. I find this extremely beneficial - each time I bring my head back out from underwater, I've taken a little chunk out of the tinnitus.

Of course, it eventually comes back...but usually not before I can get into bed and shuffle off.

Hope it helps for you too.
