If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Awesome verse my guy I love the Bible.

@Robert18

I think that it would be much better if you posted verses of Scripture on your Profile Posts instead. I remember another thread regarding Christianity and religion that caused a lot of hard feelings and contained very unpleasant and ugly posts.

I hope you'll at least consider my suggestion.

Why not allow religious people to talk to each other on this forum? I suspect that they will not like what I have to say, so I don't post in their threads. They didn't come here to defend their beliefs.

These religious writings provide many people with support. This is a support forum. The unpleasant and ugly posts emanate from those who feel it is their obligation to harass and denigrate those with conflicting views and beliefs.

I'd never heard this so I looked it up:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oholah_and_Oholibah

"In the Hebrew Bible, Oholah (אהלה) and Oholibah (אהליבה) (or: Aholah and Aholibah) are pejorative personifications given by the prophet Ezekiel to the cities of Samaria in the Kingdom of Israel and Jerusalem in the kingdom of Judah, respectively. They appear in the Book of Ezekiel, chapter 23."

"The Hebrew prophets frequently compared the sin of idolatry to the sin of adultery, in a reappearing rhetorical figure.[2]:317 Ezekiel's rhetoric directed against these two allegorical figures depicts them as lusting after Egyptian men in explicitly sexual terms in Ezekiel 23:20–21"

So it is a, rather spicy, parable that uses metaphors to speak against the sin of idolizing false gods.

Having faith and believing never hurt anyone or anything. It can actually strengthen you and motivate you. Negativity, hate, pessimism leads to nowhere....

Recently I realized that the tenth commandment "Thou shalt not covet (thy neighbor's goods)" basically prohibits Marxism and most of the redistribution of income done by governments these days. Something to think about.

Negativity, hate, pessimism leads to nowhere....
Are you sure? Isn't it ok to hate all of the hateful things? For example, don't you hate tinnitus? What about sadistic murderers?

As for negativity and pessimism - a pessimist is usually an experienced optimist (hopefully this rings true to you too). Most people start out being optimists. As they learn about the world and about reality, they change. Sometimes (and some people) refer to those people being objectivitive as them exhibiting "negativity and pessimism."

I read about a study where depressed people provided more accurate answers (compared to the non-depressed individuals) about things like their expected lifespan and their probability of being diagnosed with various serious diseases. Too bad this study is not described in the Wikipedia article below:

You are what you think. All have experienced hardships and life has not always been easy. It's those that have picked themselves up, that have moved ahead in their lives. I don't live with a limited mindset.......

Are you saying that objective reality does not exist (or that we can use our minds to change it)?
How is all the hatred in this world working out for us?
You go first:
Isn't it ok to hate all of the hateful things? For example, don't you hate tinnitus? What about sadistic murderers?
There are reasons for you to hate X (or you wouldn't be doing it). You are arguing that things will work out better for you if you ignore those reasons (so - ignore "reality and substitute your own"?). Do you see a problem here?

Your reality is WAY different than 99% of the people on this forum....

You must have a difficult time coming up with a rebuttal to my argument if all you've got is an ad hominem (personal) attack. But to address your comment above, it all depends on what we are talking about. You might be right as far as my personal beliefs about relationships. You are probably wrong as far as facts about tinnitus are concerned. This is a tinnitus support forum, so you are wrong regarding everything that matters to the readers of this forum.

Does hatred lead to peace?
To use an example that might appeal to you: if during WWII the Allies were to not act as if they hated the Axis Powers, it would in fact lead to peace, but it is likely that you would not like it. So even someone who could write the post I am responding to ought to agree that it is ok to not always enjoy peace.

I think I got over 3361 ratings and over 26 people that follow on my account, so I guess what I have been typing for the past 2 years does matter :)

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I was talking only about your statement that 99% of the users of this forum would disagree with me. I believe you are wrong that 99% of the users here would disagree with me regarding tinnitus facts.

Is hatred ever necessary to take right action? Perhaps awareness of the need to act is enough.

We are probably using different definitions for the word "hatred." To me it means recognizing that X is likely going to interfere with me achieving my goals and acting accordingly. The minimum probability of an interference required for me to "hate" something is inversely related to the importance of the goal in question.

Since this is a religious thread, let us give peace a chance.
If TT forums is for supporting purpose, it does not hurt to have God or bible verses.
If people don't like it then just ignore or skip.

Believing in god is not a choice - it is a conviction.

Being brought up in isolation by a mentally ill mother, and without any sign of bonding, I suffered hell on Earth.
I prayed constantly.
Guess what happened - S.F.A. !!

I had to bring myself up as best I could.

If there was such a thing as a loving god, he would have put his arms around me.
To me, god is just a myth.

Having no conviction, I can not choose to believe.

Our conviction grows from a lifetime of experience.

All just my views of course. x

PS - and I strongly resist the blatant 'blackmail' of Hell, as a punishment for the non-believer.
Belief through fear - no thanks.

Religious people proselytise and promote their faith, and why not.
Agnostics/atheists have the same right to promote their views also.
It doesn't imply spiritual warfare,
simply reasoned debate.

If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

I searched for years - and found nothing.
Bible stories are pretty good yarns though.

I hope you'll at least consider my suggestion.

It should be possible to discus religion maturely,
let's face it Christopher Hitchens and Father Barron did so, and maintained considerable respect for each other.
But then again - we could always discus the weather.....
