Are There Any Inspirational Bible Verses That Have Helped You with Tinnitus or Depression?

I cannot understand why if the title of this post is: Are There Any Inspirational Bible Verses That Have Helped You with Tinnitus or Depression?, why would anybody high jack this thread and start a religious discussion??? I mean, if you have no Bible verse to share, please move on to another post and do not be rude to the author or other people that might benefit from it. It is simple. Lets be cordial with one another. I really was looking forward to reading the Bible verses and all I got was peoples opinions on religion, disrespectful comedy, and stuff about Buddhism?? I mean really? I am sure we are all adults here. Lets exercise self control and respect.

I wanted to just read the Bible verses shared by others.

God's Word has given me much peace and hope that ONE DAY, weather here on this earth or in heaven with my heavenly Father, I will NOT have tinnitus. That eases MY suffering, that gives ME peace. That helps ME to continue living the best life that I can live. We all have different ways to cope. You can exercise, read, become a vegan, go on a diet, get drunk...whatever you want and whatever helps YOU. But if Faith in God helps ME, then respect that and be happy for me.

On that note, here are a few of my favorites:

"We know that in ALL things God works for the good
of those who love Him, who have been called
according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your path straight." Prov. 3: 5-6

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me." Phil. 4:13

'You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in You."` Isaiah 26:3

"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because
when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown
of life that God has promised to those who love Him." James 1:12

"Now Faith is being sure of what we hope for and
certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1

Bravo!!! Keep it coming :)

Have representatives from all religions, put them in a huge octagon, and have them fight to the death. Religion is no stranger to violence, so it should be a spirited ( pun intended ) free-for-all. The winner will determine our global religion.

While the "Religionists" are fighting,
the agnostics (free thinkers) will be getting along with each other just fine.....

Hum...

I am not religious in any sense. As a young kid I remember living in a Jewish community and my best friend was Jewish. The horrible Christian religion my family pushed scared me to death. I wasn't allowed to have my friend. I never understood. I never bought that one had to believe and worship a "Jesus" entity or be banished to an after life of burning in a pit of fire.

It just never made sense to a five year old. Still makes me quiver inside to talk about it.

Years later I briefly dated a great Jewish guy and he took me to a family gathering. I wasn't very welcomed by the old school family members.

I like to think each of us has our own set of beliefs which help us during bad times and gives us strength.

Kindness is all that matters.

Starthrower - I so agree with every thought you have expressed here.
(I nearly said "Praise the Lord" but I stopped myself just in time!!)

Good, intelligent, kind, free thinking people do not need to be tied to these historical scriptures.
Would a god full of ineffable love wish to cast unbelievers (those that have tried, but cannot find him - like me) into lakes of fire. (Matthew.)

I have never found god.
I am not prepared to kid myself, or imagine him.
"God - if you exist - please let me feel your presence?"
I personally never have - so far.

I hope those lovely people on here who are quoting their favourite biblical texts, will see that those of us with genuine unbelief are still searching for "TRUTH," and that dialogue such as this, is both valuable and important.
I never wish to offend anybody, but believe that respectful honest debate between believers and unbelievers is important, so that we can get to understand each other better.

I stand with Starthrower,
a kind lady, brave enough to admit her doubts...

I have no problem with anyone's beliefs, but there's a saying 'stuff happens.' Watching out and caring for love ones, friends and self should have importance in our lives.

Psalm 90 King James Version (KJV)
17 And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

God is the foundation of Christians' life. Let God's beauty be shown to the world through His children.
Let there be peace and joy on earth and in this forums.
Whatever pain or suffer we have, He will wipe it for us.

I agree, but please lets move it to another post, one which anyone can start and then we can all discuss it and state our opinions/beliefs there. Not here. It is clearly a completely different subject.

I was not singling you out Jazzer. I wish not to be rude, just want to be clear and I have found only but these words to express myself. :huganimation:

I am sorry you have not been "able " to find God. Perhaps in all your life troubles "God" has always been there, just not in the way you expected Him to be.

More of my favorites:

" Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." James 4:8

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Rev. 21:4

That last verse alone is enough for me to have hope that I wont suffer tinnitus for eternity and that comforts me.

Thank you OHT.
A nice response.
"just not in the way you expected" has been suggested to me before.
Interestingly enough, my lovely misus, who is such an angel of humanity, shares your views.
I must leave you in peace now.

Hey it's cool. The detractors are in here seeing these posts and being exposed to scripture. Let the seeds fall where they may. Dont chase them off. Treat them with patience. I love talking religion with agnostics and atheists. We share this world with them. That's what being an apostle of Christ is all about.

I remember going into an empty church during a weekday many years ago. I was in mid-town Manhattan. It was during a very difficult and dark period of my life. As I walked up to the door I remember thinking, " You know this is just a waste of time. Even if there is a God, he obviously doesn't like me." Then I thought, "Well, I'll just enjoy a few minutes of peace and quiet, if nothing else."

I don't know why I chose a particular pew to sit in. However, after I sat down, I noticed that there was an open Bible next to me. I did not even pick it up. I only looked at it. Of all of the passages on the page, my eyes fixated on Jeremiah 29:11.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

I know that this sounds a bit strange but I actually felt the words in my chest as I read them. I had never had that experience before.

That said, the effect from the experience was that it lifted my spirits and gave me the peace and hope that I needed to go on...

@jimH Hi Jim When I see your name I think of Mount Washington, New Hampshire. It brings back memories. How nice it was to be young and healthy. Wishing you the best.

Quite right John.
"Our Lord consorted with sinners and prostitutes."

I had eight years of bible study, aged 8 to 18.
Aged 15 to 18 with a bible study correspondence course thrown in for good measure.

Every time I try to leave this thread, someone with a more liberal mind, like John, draws me back into the fold with a friendly (Christlike) gesture.
Anyway - what is the point of merely "preaching to the converted?"

I sleep next to a bible every night. I kiss it and pray to god to get this terrible condition away from me. It took everything I have loved :( :(

Matthew 5:15
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Romans 8:37 King James Version (KJV)
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.

We, the T suffering Christians, will rely upon Jesus Christ's love to conquer all this mental torture
with glorious hope that one day we will meet Him face to face without the hissing sound.

I wish he would heal all of us right now. I know he will eventually. but damn tinnitus is a cruel mistress.

Don't panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear, I'll give you strength.

I'll help you. I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I am not letting go.

1 Peter 1:3 King James Version (KJV)

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

"Live hope" is also a living hope which God bestows us.
Even in dire situation like T, we still live with a hope of cure.
God will sustain us to live our lives with a HOPE.

Hebrews 1:3 New International Version (NIV)
3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread going despite the negativity and misery that others try to drag in, really nice to see the faith is strong and people's vigilance and resilience prevails. I have many friends who are unhappy with their own life and they are absolutely miserable to everyone and anyone. It's not their fault, but we cannot allow it to prevent us from being happy =]

@coffee_girl
You are absolutely correct. There is NOTHING hindering us being happy.
We are suffering ... but we still can be jolly.
Always look at positive side of our lives and cheering us up.

Since this is the VERSE THREAD...
let me use this one to end our conversation .... and let us REJOICE ...

Romans 5:1-5 King James Version (KJV)

5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;

4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

5 And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Personally - throughout years of approaching the possibility of god, I have never found him, or had any reason to develop a conviction in his existence.
All I wanted was a feeling of his presence.
It never came.
I am wide open to experience whatever comes....
