I have a question. But can be taken one of two ways. I would like to get like other ppl I know who have habituated to the T. Which means they only hear the t when it is brought up in conversation. (Normally by me)..

What is the best way to habituate?

I find it hard not to monitor and think about T constantly!

And I understand as far as a great support groups go. BUT does it make the suffers and easier by visiting the forums?

I tell you. The fastest way to habituate is to stop reading all informations about tinnitus on the internet and go back and try to do all usual activities.

When I first got T I listen for it 24 hours a day and tried all types of vitamins and snake oil cures. You need to keep busy and continue doing the things that you enjoy. You will find as time goes by you will get small windows of time when your thoughts will be on something else and you dont hear your T. Iam at 8 monthes and actually go hours at a time especially if doing something outside or working out at the gym which was a big help for me. In the beginning my MD prescribed ambien for sleep and noticed after a few weeks I could fall asleep without it. I still take xanax if having a bad day of course the lowest dosage. When I started living my life the way I did befor T that probably helped the most for you are thinking about other things and the T fades away. It just takes time and pretty much everyone habituates and some peoples T leaves completely. I avoid salt, sugar, any foods with alot of additives and get plenty of exercise. Keep your stress level down take up tai chi, weight training, or yoga and you will improve.

Thanks for an in depth quote.. Thanks..

Anyone at that level of habituation isn't checking this forum. You're better off asking people in a musicians forum or a veterans forum
